Generally speaking, it doesn't. It's not a constant issue. Like I said, it seems to be dependant on who is supposed to be attacking, who landed the stunning blow, and whether pets are set to kill (which they shouldn't be if you're training anyways).

If it's really a concern of yours, stand 3rd row to help.

Then, I'd like to make a proposal for the config:
auto neutral: Upon entering an area that has law, automatically sets you and any pets (regardless of types) to mode stun.

Point being: you probably do (or don't) mean to be doing this.

Yes, it still requires some set up. But then IC people start acting.. how they want/mean to act, instead of trying to RP around an OOC oversite.

You could turn off auto assist, and you won't attack if someone in your group is attacked or attacks someone. Once you order your pet to mode stun when you log in, it should remain that way until you log out. I've never had an issue with pets turning to mode kill while I'm set to kill, only played characters, so that could do basically the same thing as auto neutral.

Nor I, but I say the ratio I'm encountering is at least 3:1, where 3 is people with oddities to how things were reported/their settings, and 1 being the legitimate criminal getting caught.

I do give gentle reminders to people about their setup, but it's a never-ending stream of characters with the issue. Sometime it's the same one in rapid succession if they wind up dead/come back/get in involved in the PK again. Also - as much as I have been around lately, many of the people involved who 'make mistakes' just spend their day or two in jail just to get on with the game :|
