I know it has taken lots of hits in the past, but has something seriously changed? I'm a few tics into superb at summon and I cannot summon NPCs below my level (I'm champ, cant even successfully summon novice NPCs) even when I'm two rooms away with auto summon off. I spent three pools of mana on master and lower NPCs that I know are summonable, including 10+ attempts on one NPC that I saw someone else summon successfully (he's a gm).

What's going on, is my summon broke, is summon itself broke or is there really that big of a difference between a champ summon and a gm summon (30+ casts without success vs 1 cast, 1 success)?

"...A complete character at master." ~ some forum troll :p

What I can tell you for certain is that the weirdest and most unexpected rooms are warded and that when summon suffers a benign failure, you don't get any feedback on where or why "You failed."

Try from a different location if you haven't already.

Also, make sure there are no other NPCs in the game with the same name/adj your trying to use.

Else it may be a difference in spellpower, have you trained any art compared to the other person who did summon it?
Dozens of reasons why you can't summon it comes to mind.

That would be my bet as well, you have to make sure that the room you are summoning FROM isn't warded, just as well as the room they are in can't be.

Agreed. I know when I try to summon Derk i have about a 50 percent chance of getting him just because of the fact that most of the time hes in a part of the dock that is warded

Art shouldn't matter vs NPCs with no eq that aren't of a MR race right?

I'd be interested in those reasons actually to eliminate them one by one and make sure I'm just not unlucky.

For now, I know the following:
*I'm not in a warded spot (tried multiple including the same room)
*they aren't in a warded spot
*auto summon off
*superb++ at summon
*very close proximity
*non-mr race being summoned
*no eq on them
*correct adj being used to attempt the summon (tried known named targets, adjs, #.NPC, etc)

What am I missing that can make me go through 3+ mana pools without a single success?

And grep has a good point--a more detailed reason for failure would be nice.

EQ or no EQ people have a natural resistance to summon. Yes, art helps.

Right, but does it make it impossible? It shouldt.

What are you trying to summon? I've had expert level sorcerors able to summon most anything.
