Re. OP - still using zMUD. Even recently graphed user online activity to Excel via DDE with it (no mean feat in Vista).

There certainly wasn't anything like zMUD when it first came out. cMUD really is zMUD v8+, but that's a debate done to death in Zugg's forums. From this very simplistic poll, I don't think cMUD is winning against the current open source alternatives.

almost understand this mentality since zMUD was touted as a lifetime of upgrades, but I really must state clearly that this is not cool. In hindsight, Zugg should have said "lifetime of the O/S". His heart was in the right place though - he managed to ship a slew of great features into each new version, to everyone who ever gave him money. You just don't get that nowadays.
There's plenty of alternate clients if you don't want to pay for cMUD.
