Alright - I have most of the areas in non-labeled, non-colored versions already. Guess its a race between Raina and I to get our "reward"? :P

Either that or we can split the task.

You could always split the task, you know.

I think it would be really cool if the maps were in-game, actual maps written in the homelands' language.

Most new players have absolutely no idea about the maps on the site at all, but even if they do find out about them, it really kills the realism of the game to have to alt-tab to a browser window everytime that you need to refer back to it. I remember thinking it was pretty cool back when I got maps in-game as a new player.

My map just hovers there at the corner of my zmud like a fly. I could see Ingame maps, but dang those would be hard to do, hardest teron and nerina (for main cities). Not impossible though.

edited-
scratch that, took me about an hour to draw an ingame map of Nerina, colored and put on a sheet of parchment, not to bad.

I like the in-game maps though. The one of Menegroth that was sold in the general store, and the map of ayamao on the wall were some of my favorite pieces of the game. The maps sold by the halfling are great too.

Just finishing off the coloring however I have run into a little snag.

When saved in mspaint (which I use for screen caps) it looks just fine. When saved as a bmp or png it looks just fine. However when I try and save it as a jpg it becomes "dithered" around the outside of each box. I would keep them as BMP, however the they are about 15 mb. PNG takes it down to about 200k but is not viewable (I dont think) without plugins in most browsers.

Anyone know how I can save these bitmaps as jpg without this problem?

Alshain will be the final authority on what format he wants them in. I think when I did the first maps he asked them to be exported to the pdf format. However, I can't answer your question, but I can use openoffice to open and then export from bitmap to pdf.
