Yeah. Aldric's going to be so pissed off if he finds out none of it is real.

The only nerf Charm Person might actually could use is to stop remove all;drop all from working. It'd make scrolls a lot weaker since you can't Citydrop or toss them in a sack and drown them anymore, and charm person ISN'T a one-shot kill. They have to find a way to off you unlike all of the other totally not overpowered things that actually do.

Saying SK requires skill with a straight face ends the moment you say you only died to a "lucky shot" thanks to your super-enchanted crap you spent hours wasting time getting.
Don't even get me started on unique scripted loot that people mistake for skill.

That's... my point.

No, see, I'm insulting all skills that are "overpowered". Bash especially.

Charm Person isn't making or breaking the game. People just found a new use for it and everyone's crying over it. Scrolls shouldn't be able to junk your equipment when they only last a round or three, but leave the held spell alone. They have to drop a tank and an [REDACTED] load of concentration to take one person out of the fight.

Get Lathy and and laugh at the people using Charm offensively when you bash them and make their faces unrecognizable like you tossed a cat in heat on them.
Or just bring a (clothie) priest with you and hope your awesome gear doesn't resist that instead.

Want a solution that'll stop the scroll rape and make people mad at the same time? Remove the ability to remove armor while your pulse is racing.

I don't know about you but half the time my character types "remove all," her pulse is racing. The other half, the game doesn't know, but it still is. :P

There are two options.

1) Try to make this game about both roleplay and tactics.
2) Make this game about roleplay.

The existence of necromancers and comical things such as final strike/charm person make it evident that #2 is where things are. The quality of pvp has _drastically_ dropped in recent years, despite the fact that players have gotten more experienced.

Dulrik has explicitly stated in the past that, for roleplay reasons, he wants certain races/classes to be better than other races/classes. (One example is when he states that humans should be the most populous race and therefore an above-average choice, and another is how necromancers have stayed for years). As long as some classes are purposely being made stronger than others - you have a roleplay mud, not a rp/tactics mud.

I will stop hating on a game I no longer play, but I recently had a HoN match with Inzaarid so my interest was rekindled.

Sounds like a personal problem to me.
Fixed.
While we're putting words into other people's mouths, I think what you meant to say was... "I am a gamer who has become so inundated with the WoW/JRPG complex that I have begun to confuse mindless, repetitive actions (leveling, enchanting, brewing, scribing) with fun (role playing, exploration, combat)."

Yes, it is, and you’re mentally ill (like someone addicted to slot machine gambling, for example), if you think otherwise.

I don’t think you grasp the concepts here, B.Aldric and Nightwing. Your motivational factors are extrinsic. You want the phat enchants but don’t want to do the work to get there. Easy Street. A means to an end. Enjoying enchanting, on the other hand, shows a different, intrinsic motivation, more self-directed because one finds the activity of enchanting interesting in itself AND because achieving the outcome is important. Much more healthy playstyle. To bound the idea of "fun" by your personal limited enjoyment of certain activities is a cognitive defect, and an example of the fundamental attribution error. Perhaps you’ve heard of the Bartle Test of Gamer Psychology as well? Achievers/Explorers/Socializers/Killers, etc.

Are you really saying that I and others like me—who enjoy enchanting and fit into the Achiever of the Bartle Test framework—are mentally ill? Interesting and ironic in the context of your locus of control. Please, do elaborate. *popcorn*

Your elaboration will be relevant because I don’t think anyone who has played a Shattered Kingdoms character with Enchant Armor can honestly claim they didn’t have a fair freaking chance to minimize getting hit by Charm Person, or any other spell.

Which gets to the point. "Overpowered" doesn't exist the way you're using it. Damaging spells are different from ones like Sleep/Charm/Summon etc. You have a fair, tweakable dice-chance and strategies to avert being affected. Preparation still trumps skill. As I think it certainly should.
