The experience granted by healing PCs really, really needs to be buffed. It's hard for a healer to be able to do much else, especially when you hit the higher levels and are leveling with a group and constantly spamming heal.

I would heartily agree.

It was in my priest's best interests to stay home from wastelands trips and get XP from the resurrections rather than going out and keeping them from dying in the first place.

That seems counter-intuitive.

The problem with doing this is that a priest just needs to sit in an inn and spam heal to level. There are a couple of ways to beef up heal xp without opening them for abuse....

1. Beef healing xp for targeted PCs that aren't yourself.
2. Make it so you only get XP for 'effective' healing, meaning heals that actually increase your hit point total.

That still doesn't help a sorcerer and priest from sitting in an inn spamming magic missile self, heal sorc. But at least it makes it harder...

I am pretty sure healing counts more if you actually heal. And, more importantly, that the condition of your victim plays a role in the significance of your experience.

I am also told there is some sort of per-hour cap on how much experience a priest can gain through healing. Hit this ceiling, and all your efforts until whatever time period ends are moot. For a group of people who want a high-momentum end-game-like romp through the outer planes, this becomes a conflict of interest.

All of the priests I have traveled with have got plenty of xps while I was the tank.

[REDACTED], my last paladin didn't really need much healing and the back row guys could use spears and harm to their content.

Stop being terrible tanks and they can level.

I'm sure that part of the problem is that prior to the update that changed the leveling curve the cap allowed a more noticeable amount of experience to be gained. Following the change the experience gained is the same. The higher levels now require more experience. In lower levels the healing experience gain would be more noticeable. Later in levels the cap must be filled several times before a tick is gained.

I'd allow the cap for healing experience to be doubled in size or halved in duration. It does appear to be difficult for healers to viably earn experience from healing in groups. It is good to promote grouping. The existing cap does not promote grouping in the way that it could.
