Aren't some of the pets just a bit overpowered? That lion is insane. My champion 1 bard (yes I know they're frail and not suited for combat) in full dragonskin / mithril under half weight got completely rocked by one of those lions, to the point htat hte pet ITSELF took me down to 42% HP.

Now, I know bards are frail and aren't meant for combat and whatnot, but to me that's just a bit ridiculous. Pets should all be capped at a certain level and be made mercs instead of barbs. They can bash, but not berserk. The damage that some of them put out is insane and a horse, imo should be used as a mount for travel, not as a shield. It seems like the pets just keep getting stronger and stronger.

Take for example those cutlasses. They deal low damage, but they have innate fly and are 100% immune to ANY type of magic. It's not resistance either as even magma spray from a warlock (bypasses MR and MP) doesn't even scathe em. They're basically like a golem. Imo something needs to be done about these crazy pets and they need to be weaker. It's bad when a pet lion can solo a person near grandmaster in full dragonskin and mithril, no matter what class it is. Wha do you guys think?

store bought pets are okay where they are in terms of sturdiness

it's the berserk yeah

that's a problem with leveling/wandering NPCs too (re: berserk)

I think they are fine, would be nice to see a much larger variety of pets though.

There is a huge variety of pets in the game.

The correct sentiment is:

It would be nice to see people buying more than the lion.

With the implicit question of:

"Why are their lions every where?"

You know it's a problem when classes that do not need pets are walking around with pets because of the sheer necessity of having that extra DMG output in pvp.

Even though I play a barbarian, lions are cheap, tank well, and dish out decent damage and are a great supplement to any battle. With the changes to leveling, I think the pets are appropriately powerful for classes that require being in the second row (priests, bards, even some rogues). I don't really see a solution, the current system just necessitates the ownership of a lion.

Sort of like the orb necklaces from Exile, before they got wimped.

Come again? Anyone w/o a pet is a complete newb, and not because they're missing out on some damage output.

And the lions are fine. Your bard is probably just awful.

I actually have to agree, the lion does little damage to my bard. Get better weapons and or armor.
