I know your character, and I commend your RP. I think that's very, very cool, and how it should be between barbs/shamans, especially barb/shaman minotaurs.

I really think the best they could do is give shamans a limited resurrection spell that could only resurrect fellow shamans or barbarians. This sounds impossible to code, though - I don't know anything about that.

Other than that...there are a lot of "getting back to life' options. They're not nice, but with your RP, it's what you'll have to do.

My first real char was a warlock and had an interaction where Raynor lagged out in front of Yed, (no one knew he lagged out till he reconnected). Yed demaned some kind of respone from Raynor, who didn't (because he was lagged) and then slayed the three of us. I rped my body being touched by my god and treated it like a holy blessed object. I only accepted breath of life raises from locks to keep the same body touched by Yed.

I spent a lot of time in the afterlife and the pbase was probably nearly twice what it is now. It was fun, but yeah, spent alot of time swimming.

Be better to remove the xp cost on raise dead and make it a usable spell.

The fact that you need a corpse at all should be enough of a hindrance.

Remove the XP on raise dead if cast by a shaman on a shaman/barb. I don't see why a sorc raised by a priest should not have a cost.

I never understood why the super raise spell rez, which instantly brought you back to life, has less of a cost, than raise dead or breath of life. I've always wanted it reversed. Rez's should cost xp's (new body and all) and if you go through all the trouble of getting people to traverse through whatever you did to where you died, you should be brought back without xp loss. Insant return, lose xps. Harder return, keep xps, IMO.

Rez is op'd like no joke.

[edit] lets just get rid of breathe of life and raise dead and put in something useful. Dulrik has already said he would never make it so RD and BoL didn't cost xp's. Why waste the space?

That's a pretty sound point.

And shamans could use something that doesn't require a body, so that if someone's body decays after those eight hours, there's still something they can do. It could even have an xp loss with it, but there should be a viable option besides reincarnate.

This is a bad idea because then PvP would take a tick of experience every single time you got killed, because your killers would just take/butcher your corpse and so force you to take a rez. With the familiarity system/leveling scaling system in place, the incentive to PvP would decrease dramatically.

I was thinking of the same thing, a rez type spell with an xp loss of a tick to all non shaman/barb class PCs

There's also the death quest . . . which is vastly preferable to reincarnation.

I tried really hard to think of an easy way to counter that. All I got was this... :(
