Should you still be able to hide while wearing ONE very small glowing item?

I have always wondered why it is impossible to hide when you only have a small glowing item on. To me, it just seems like a pain in the butt. I have been mulling this over in my head for some time now, seeing as how I tend to play mostly halflings.

I was thinking that perhaps it would be better if it was possible to still perform the hide skill while wearing a glowing item, but only if the item is a treasure (i.e. not a piece of body armor or weapon)? If not, perhaps only if it is a ring?

I can only imagine this working in a realistic aspect if the item was very small, so perhaps a ring would be the only option. None the less, my whole idea is that a ring or necklace can be easily covered up so it would not give away one's position when attempting to hide.

This is just an idea, so feel free to disagree. I just think it would be quite handy, and in doing this, I don't think it would tip the scale towards making anything overpowered.

Also, no, it would not be good. Right now the "counter" for being able to hide is not being able to see if you don't have infravision. You shouldn't be able to have your cake and eat it too if you roll a halfling.

I hate that everybody does polls like this one now. It really isn't as clever as you think it is.

You should not be able to hide with a glowing item on.

So the ring would glow enough to light the entire room up so you could see, but it wouldn't glow enough for people to notice you were in the room with them?

Point, set, match. Baldric FTW.

Besides, there are scripted objects that grant infravision, it's no big secret, ask around and find yourself one.

Also, what's wrong with having strait "yes", "no", and "I don't care" options? You realize people might take the poll more seriously if it doesn't make them look like idiots by picking the logical answer.

This is one of those stupid changes that, together with shovels, is supposed to bring some realism to the game but really it's just annoying.

In this instance I'll side with gameplay, rather than irrelevant realism.
