I think the reason I like adventure class is because it tends to rely more on wit and fast thinking than brute strength or spellpower. :P

I've settled on Scout, because I like the idea of being a survivalist. Now to just 100% settle on an alignment and get a move on.

Humans make decent scouts, yes?

When it comes down to numbers, yes. Humans do make good scouts. Baldric, I am certain, would MORE than agree with me on this. He and I went through a "humans are the best race in the game and they ROCK every class" debate recently  (nothin' but respect, Baldric! LOL!)

The only reason I've never played a human scout is due to their lack of innate infravision. Everyone seems fine with relying on herbs and scripted items, which is just fine for everyone else. I have hard time swallowing it, though. As for the actual attribute levels that humans are capable of, they make more sense from a PK aspect.

However, if you want to have fun and RP more, then I would suggest either a halfling (which can tend to be a bit of a drawback with the small sized weapons and arrows) or a half-elf (which is unfortunately fairly common). This is if you wanted to play a gray aura character. If you would like to go light aura, then I might suggest an elf because of their great capacity for charisma (they have the highest possible charisma, which is important to scouts because the order command's lag is determined by your charisma level). Dark aura scouts usually end up half-elves, humans or halflings, as elves cannot be dark aura.

If you're having a hard time deciding on an aura, I would suggest you go either light or gray. I thoroughly enjoyed my scout druids (I've played a few of those as well) and that cabal is usually (although not by any means restricted to last I checked) gray aura oriented.

No matter what, just have fun.

I'll just warn you and everyone else now: if you have trouble swallowing the idea that you'll need to use special and sometimes limited items, you'll just have to swallow a lot of failure and limitations instead.

One way or another, you're taking something in. May as well get the best buck for your bang, and go human.

I meant that I had a problem swallowing that ONE aspect of the game. Infravision. I happen to be very fond of being able to hide and camo at the drop of a hat, without having to remove glowing object or having to take a herb or activating a scripted item. That is just me, though. I have no problem being reliant on special and sometimes limited items other times. Nobody should if they plan to play Shattered Kingdoms well and to it's fullest extent. However, this dilemma is avoidable just by choosing a different race and, in my opinion, there is nothing wrong with playing a half-elf scout. Again, this is just my opinion.

I'll just leave it at that and stop posting on this thread, then. Have fun, kid ! :D

It's a spiral. First, you accept wearing a ring for infravision.

Before you know it you're whining on YIM about how you can't PVP without your nephrite talisman.

I don't YIM, let alone talk to anyone pertaining to Shattered Kingdoms outside of these forums. I wish I even had friends that played the game but I'm no pro and I'm not "1337" so......yeah......

I do see what you mean, though.

You had me at "making it less enjoyable for others."

Now the real question is, whom did you play?

I didn't want to go there. I was morbidly curious but was too afraid to ask. Leave it to Chem to just put it right out there, lol! Now I'm all ears. I'll check back on this thread in a few minutes 8)

I'd tell you, but that would pretty much defeat the purpose of my "fresh start" now, wouldn't it? :

All I'll say is I played a merc, and "bash" was the only way I would enter the various taverns of the world (where applicable). If I recall, I had Wortsenawl himself give me a obscenely long lecture as to how bashing down doors is unacceptable behavior.

...I bashed the door on my way out. I think I had to visit the oracle shortly after.
