Having never played a Warlock, the most obvious question I have is... are Elementals notably more powerful than pets?

Depends on the pet but usually yes.

Depends on the pet and the opponent. They aren't amazing. They do have other benefits though. I voted no.

Barring the armor bug, elementals are MUCH more powerful than pets in every way, though of course screwed by the whole "lol I got dispelled" thing.

If I'm going to vote yes on this, then Scouts should get their tame and a pet as well! And I'm fine with remove compulsion working on tames as a counter balance for dispel.

I like this idea...but does anybody think scouts are underpowered?

Warlocks are weak and deserve this buff.

Make elementals a hold, similar to charm. Make it a super low concentration, super low mana consumption (I'm thinking somewhere along the lines of the invis spell) and they disappear naturally at the same rate of the current timer, with the warning. Warlocks should be able to release an elemental and switch to different elementals if they want. If it's dispelled or dies, you should be able to resummon one for the same cast cost/time as it currently is. Sure, they're an unmatched physical tank for a pet, but their magic protection sucks and there's potentially a large gap of time in between being able to summon one again if you lose one currently. I truly believe it will be a vast improvement for the class, but still keep things balanced.

Literally other than that, warlocks don't need any other upgrades. It would definitely be a much more exciting class to play without being overpowered over comparable classes, and warlocks would still be able to hold stone skin, ironguard and such while casting.

Later, it may not hurt to see about upgrading them a little further and give them the same saving throw protections as the warlock's armor. That may be a bit on the overpowered side, but fixing it at the initial portion of my proposal will take enough time to ruminate on upgrading them to that degree.
