Tier systems are common in many MUDs. One never obtains the most powerful attacks/spells of any class, but has a more diverse range of abilities. Sorc Palladin O_O

My necro/sorc would own your barb merc hardcore.

You couldn't raise wraiths, and I'd be able to skirmish you with a furied and specced siege crossbow while retreating around.

Barb swash hammer would also be sick.

My char would be gm and raise dead is a low level spell. Why wouldn't I be able to make wraiths? Etherealform wands kthx?

Also, barb shaman > barb merc too.

Well, the original idea suggested that you couldn't GM the character, it would probably be stuck at master or something.

In the end I would just run from you if you went ethereal, and then eventually get the ether wire. Because I never make mistakes.

And all a barb merc needs to beat a barb shaman is a decent fort save and an SA vial. Specialize and fury along with ranged weapons would be the most broken combo ever. I'd join the Hammer too.

I would still rather be a barb master sub classed swashbuckler. 10 furried attacks per round, 12 with haste.

Yea, as opposed to my.. say 25 wraiths doing 4-5 attacks with enchanted pikes, at size giant.

Animate dead increases power and therefore what you raise with level. I don't know what level it is that you start raising wraiths, but that's what Edoras is referring to when he points out that you won't GM, and might be stuck at master.

EDIT: 25 wights doesn't sound bad though.
