It doesn't fit you.

My question is why can't NPC gifts/prizes come in the size of our characters?

Or a workaround to have the NPC ask if we want it in small or large size.

Economics.

Each builder has a fixed number of rooms, NPCs, and items (s)he can designate.

While a quest reward is one item in and of itself, each additional size is an additional item.

It just isn't in the builder's best interest to use six item slots for one quest reward, since -- I am assuming -- resizing an item is difficult to do with the tools at their disposal.

Would it be possible, or way too complex to bother, to have the NPC spawn the item on itself at a standardized size then apply a re-size spell (minus echos of course, and instant) to make it the character's size, and finally give it to the character (or drop it if hands are full / can't see it)?

Sure, if faded it will go back to standard, but that would solve the immediate problem right?

Anyway, just spitting out an idea that might be feasible. Frankly I don't see a problem with it as is with armorers, tailors, re-size scrolls, sorcerers, and probably other methods that exist.

Maybe 'magic re-sizing' shops in every city that can re-size anything at a ridiculously expensive price?

Didn't know they had a fixed number of items they could designate.

The only reason I brought it up was that the elflight is gemstone.

Thanks for the input guys.

Without going into too much detail, it would be possible, but we'd have to do it in ways that might get us in trouble. Sorry.

Simple pack of solutions:

1. Since non-newbie characters never really have a reason to enter a newbie area, since mentoring always takes place outside them and the only reason a veteran really enters a newbie is to hide from PvP, remove the privilege of veterans to enter newbie areas of their own kingdom again.

2. Put a blacksmith/tailor inside the newbie area that offers services for (almost) free.

that has been done in Taslamar and Ayamoand Uxmal.

On a side note teron's starting area shops are even made so when you walk in, it only shows you armor of your size, so you don't pick the wrong size. Would that be hard to code with quest NPCs? Give them five different sized pieces of quest items tiny to giant and have them only give you your size?

If you EVER catch a player doing this, report them. It is clearly against the rules and will have their mentor abilities (including going into newbie areas) revoked.
