In a lot of games, there is a feature called "unique items". What it does is a player may only carry one of those items at a time. Then certain powerful items could use adjustments in their charges. Ethereal wands probably only need 2 charges maximum on them.

This along with removing recharge.

The ONLY thing taking these wands out of the game would accomplish would be to massively wimp the weakest class in the game: warlocks.

Uh, this statement is completely untrue. Warlocks are definitely NOT the weakest class in the game, and nearly the opposite. Warlock is my favorite class and I can tell you first hand that they decimate when built right (not including the ultimate combination by throwing them in the Druids). They may suck somewhat at the low end of the leveling spectrum, but get beastly powerful at the high end. Taking out the wands will not nerf them in any way, and a warlock using an etherealform wand actually nerfs themselves, since they don't get teleport/gate/rift.

What baldric said was true, not to derail this thread, but Warlocks are pathetically weak. Finicky pets that leave them on a timer that is less than a necromancer's army of wraiths. Stonskin easily bypassed by the absolute plethora of magical damaging reaching weapons out there, nonexistent access to third row in which keeps casters alive. Elementals are uber easy to dispel, even using a simple scroll can work.

Magic damage is laughable vs someone with a well enchanted suit (Yes, casters should have more than one useful dd spell. Warlocks only have magma..) The only thing that gives them remotely a fighting chance is the fact that they get access to etherealform wands so they don't die -every- time they encounter someone. Seriously the only person who gets ganked by a solo warlock is the person who don't know they're hunting him or a total newbie. Any person with a sliver of experience can easily escape a warlock. They definitely need some tweaking to some things.

Sure, that's actually a pretty good idea.

It will never happen.

Yeah, you're likely correct.

Most experienced players who bother to invest time in pvp will have no difficulty dealing with a warlock, with the exception of a warlock played by a far superior player who is in the proper cabal.

Warlocks are actually really good against other caster classes due to magma spray ignoring MP. I wish the rest of the warlock spellset worked like that though, since they aren't even magical in nature. In fact, I don't think it would be good to run across an ethereal warlock as another caster.

Their spells should even go so far as to not be affected by the innate magical resistance of certain races. That would go a long way to buffing up warlocks in the face of their undeniable weakness against other classes.

I should just put these ideas in their own thread.

I wouldn't put more effort into them than you anticipate our Coder would.

Terrac utters the words, 'waowa gsgrul'.
Terrac unleashes a torrent of magma on you, charring your flesh severely!
Your concentration has been disrupted!

[HP: 73%] [ME: 20%] [PE: 98%]

Aldric against an ethereal GM (beastly powerful?) warlock. Aldric had no HP trains and his CON was below maximum. Aldric did not have sanctuary at this point in the fight, nor would protection have given him any bonus. Aldric was human, and had no innate magical resistance. The damage here is entirely negated by RE, and nothing else. I ended up charming Terrac in this fight.

And a necro v a warlock would just do o all dirt kick ftw (and should have MI and RE as well).

I suppose I should rephrase what I said about warlocks. When going against someone who knows how to quaff or brandish, warlocks are the worst class in the game.
