What I do like about grep's idea is that I've always thought there should be some benefit that comes with the responsibility of being a religion f3 or cabal/tribunal leader. There are certainly plenty of drawbacks to being one.

What I'm not so sure about is whether this is worth losing class-specific heros. I do like that too.

I'm ok with it either way really, I just realize we're probably not ever going to make it to a point where we have enough imm support/activity to have competitions once a month or whatever it would take to consistently have a full group of active heroes. Thus I think we need to take the burden off the imms by either:

a) Just get rid of the hero system
b) Make it much easier for heros to just pass on the title/benefits directly
c) Delegate some body of players the authority to appoint new heroes

Hrm

Perhaps that it rewarded quantity more than it did quality?

Perhaps that it didn't have a clear rite of succession?

Perhaps it just got boring?

Perhaps level 51 got needed for administration stuff?

Dunno.

What I can tell you is that I've never heard of anything being reverted to 'the way it was' 'round these parts.

Yeah.. and that was before the time of paragons. With the current system... Hero's would just get lumped in with how folks were talking about thebig mudsex circle jerk of PAR. Maybe not at first.. maybe not even in fact. But mud would fly, nevertheless.

Honestly the whole game is one big circlejerk, you're not going to get away or, at least, not very far, from that no matter what setup you give some aspect of it.

This was where I was headed before life intervened this summer.

On the subject of 'Has Achernar left the building?', this snippet from my current 'who' listing:

...
[Hum GOD] [None] Achernar End of the River
...

Can't complain he isn't visible...

The last time I saw him visible I sent him an OOC tell to say hello and he graciously replied that he was trying to make himself more visible.

Credit where credit is due to him I say.

Rezzing this thread because I didnt feel like making a new one.

This guy is completely new to SK and to mudding in general. I think he would benefit greatly from some immortal attention. Callie was nice and rewarded him to encourage his continued playing. If you see him, be nice. From what i've gathered, he's not interested in PK and has chosen Achernar for the neutrality. GOGO RezBot!!
