Being like another fun game in some ways isn't bad. MUD's in general are derived from table-top RPGs anyway. And the SK alignments are very similar to the 3.5 alignments, with a little changing around.

As a gameplay element in SK, elves using bows aren't bad. I think it would be neat to see such a change since long-ranged weapons (especially bows) aren't really used by many people anyway, and it wouldn't change balance at all really since people who can use bows effectively already have the skill.

More importantly though, don't be rude to new posters for no reason, especially when they have good ideas. It's definitely a general depiction across just about every fantasy setting that elves use bows.

SK doesn't use the D&D alignment system. It uses a (now) modified version of the Palladium alignment system because they disagreed on the stance of the chaos vs law and good vs evil system that D&D uses.

I guess the question here is: why?

The first picture that comes to mind when I think of elves is Tolkien elves and the only elf I can see legitimately using a bow is Legolas. The most badass elf, Gil-galad, used a spear. I don't see anything inherent about elves using bows in the SK world either. Maybe you've been hanging around Syn's character too much and just thought that elves and bows go together.

Also, I'm really disappointed at the original poster of this thread in making me remember the horror that is the Silmarillion. There is no reason there should be eighteen chapters in a book telling me that Melkor is bad. That he is the baddest of bads...

Seriously !$#%!@#

Besides, bows aren't used much because they pretty much suck.
