Inns are already safe enough if you aren't a [REDACTED]. I have no problem resting in the Moot's inn. And it has a gate target IN IT. You get a guaranteed bounty NPC spawn if you have coin in your account. And likely the enemy will get stuck 1 room outside the inn fighting too.
Let's see, in your argument you call anyone who claims that inns aren't safe enough or gets ganked in one (not sure what you were aiming at?) [REDACTED], excellent way to start. Secondly, you go off on a tangent how your character (probably the most feared darkie at the moment) has no problems sitting in your own inn, probably standing in third row behind your pet and a guard. Also you go further to assume that everyone who is resting at any inn (excluding Teron's) at any given time has access to a tribunal channel and is warned of imminent danger, when only someone in Exile would be able to hear shouts. Syn, not everyone thinks or acts like you, there's various perspectives from which to observe any situation.
I'm almost 100% sure you hear "Someone died near here." through closed doors. So, you'd know when a bounty NPC died outside the inn. And considering they tend to spawn in groups of 3, and that you should always be behind at least 1 pet, there is a guaranteed spawn inside the inn, and that you should not be AFKing in an Inn...
Yes, you really shouldn't be dying in an inn, unless you wanted to fight there. Or you get hit with a backstab or something.
Cities are plenty safe. Someone(s) is(are) welcome to come to the Moot and prove me wrong.
You can certainly avoid getting ganked at an inn, that much is true. It still doesn't mean cities are plenty safe.
Your argument of safety boils down to a warning of imminent danger, which may even come too late. I'm curious whether you'd want the police department in your local area to warn you of a murderous gang coming your way so you can run, or to actually try their best to stop them. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to use a real life example for SK, they don't apply to many of SK's aspect, but your entire premise is based on the fact that you're warned of danger so you can run away - I wouldn't consider that safety, be it relative or plentiful.
These are main cities of large kingdoms, and I'm assuming they have some sort of army or a guard dedicated to the safety and peacekeeping of each kingdom. How can the entire kingdom's military force be bested by a PC with a guard NPC?
Not to mention the fact that min did bring up some good points about player interaction and such.
Edit: I am curious, how exactly would someone prove you wrong? By catching you off-guard? They can gate to your inn. By ganking you in your city? That is a difficult feat to accomplish for various reasons unless you completely [REDACTED] up. I am forced to repeat myself and say that not everyone thinks or behaves like you, nor are they as competent as you. I doubt a third-row shaman, with sanc, MI is going to get killed on their own turf, especially by someone who is outlawed.
