The locate object spell:
Should be removed entirely from the game 6%  6%  [ 4 ]
Should be removed from casters but available on limited items/scrolls 3%  3%  [ 2 ]
Should be changed to not locate items on NPCs 6%  6%  [ 4 ]
Should be changed to not locate items on PCs 26%  26%  [ 19 ]
Should not be changed in any way 60%  60%  [ 43 ]

Locate object is a huge boon for newbs. Aside from teaming up with a vet and having them take you around to all the cool places, its one of the best ways for a new player to learn about the game. Keep it as it is.

Removing locate object from detecting items on PC's would just make hoarders 10x worst. It would have no benefit at all, and people would still get killed the same with or without it.

Keep it the same.

Changing locate would be awful. If anything, it should be buffed so that you can locate things on NPCs that aren't online so that you know who to gank when they come around.

Honestly changing it would have several negative reactions.

1. The people who are going to pk for leet gear will start hunting and pking more people because who knows what cool stuff you're hiding in your containers. There will be more of the rpless pk or "half assed attempt at rp that sums up to the I wanted your [REDACTED] pk" under the 'I can't see it, and you look like you may have it thus you are automatically a target clause.'

2. Permanewbs, newbs and others who don't know about named items, let alone other scripted items will be of no use to the vets. The vets can band together and go get everything they know exists stash it in an HQ or make it otherwise easy to spread amongst whatever cliq they are running in at the time. Therefore newbs and permanewbs will not branch up into the cool kids club and you'll get more people bitching, still.

3. Ruins exploration for newblets. I myself have found during locating..oh what what's this item? That sounds cool, who has it where do I find it and can I get a group together with a helpful vet to take me there.

People are going to be dicks who are going to be dicks. We've established this. We can all safely say that some people are great vets in the game, very helpful and contribute a lot. Others are just soul sucking game ruining douches who set out like freaking pokemon trainers after loot, at the cost of other players. But honestly the more we let the douches 'win' sk by slapping band aides on something that doesn't need a band aide fix, the worse it'll be. The best advice I can give is listen to the players, look at logs and try to understand that altering a spell won't fix the person behind the character(s) causing issues.

It's my two cents.

I think the poll has pretty much spoken. The players definitely don't think locate object should be changed.

I also agree completely, locate object + enchant armor is the only thing that can keep me interested in a character for more than a week or two.

Make it so the last object dropped doesn't always appear at the top of that list. That is if I locate arm, I shouldn't automatically get a list of the last arms to drop to the ground. The current system doesn't make any sense.

This was changed years ago.
