What are the chances of us getting something like temote?

A substantial amount of players in SK love Fountain RP (tm), but besides the socials, emote, and pemote, our 'motes' are kinda limited. In the past, players have suggested emotes where their names go somewhere in the middle of the sentence, that got shut down quickly, as it was said that kind of mote's reserved for the immortals.

What is temote? For the sake of this idea let's call it target emote. The end product's name can be anything.

Let's say there are three PCs in a room:
Mary - a lithe female half-elf
John - a muscular male human
Ben - a chubby male giant

I'm Mary. I want to emote nodding and then smiling at the giant. So I enter: emote smiles and nods at the giant. From John's perspective, this works just fine, but from Ben's perspective, he sees that Mary smiles and nods at the giant. It is awkward, because he is the giant. Similarly, doing the emote smiles and nods at you. doesn't work well for multiple obvious reasons.

If this gets implemented, Mary can type in:
temote smiles and nods at chubby. (not greeted)
temote smiles and nods at Ben. (greeted)

John would see:
Mary smiles and nods at a chubby male giant. (not greeted)
Mary smiles and nods at Ben. (greeted)

Ben would see:
A lithe female half-elf smiles and nods at you. (not greeted)
Mary smiles and nods at you. (greeted)

Please! + Thank you.

This would be nice.

I'm sure every IMM who has spied on mudsex would be able to appreciate this command.

Why do I have to be a chubby male giant?

No matter how many times I fall away from SK and then start to hear its siren-song again, this is one of the things that is always desired, along with a couple of other RP-related goodies. This is one of the most succinct and well-worded requests I've seen, too. Still and always, I vote YES!!!

C'mon, Dulrik, please? Give the RPers a Christmas gift?

The idea is solid, but I can't imagine the amount of parsing that would require, given that you'd have to check every single word in the emote against every active shortdesc in the room, and would likely wind up fondling your longsword instead of your partner.

The requested command would only be able to target other PCs or NPCs, I would imagine.

Okay, but the point is that socials are a known replacement type. The syntax is <social> <target>... and there are a number of predefined replacements that can be substituted, but the point is that the system knows the second work is the target.

Something like the proposed addition means that every keyword has to be the target, unless you mark it with a special character (e.g., my "semote" proposition).

In other words, it might be more doable if the command was more like this, and as long as it only works on character shortdescs:

temote smiles and nods at %chubby% (not greeted)
temote smiles and nods at %Ben% (greeted)

Then the system knows which word (or words) you're targeting for replacement, and can replace them with "a chubby male giant", "Ben," or "you" depending on your perspective and greet status.
