No. Everything you just suggested is stupid.

Assume you multiply the xp needed from master to GM by a factor of 10.

That means, it will take people ten times as long to get from Master to GM. That means it will take players that currently GM characters in 50 hours or less, about.... 80 or 90, or even a hefty 100 hours.

And for everybody else, it will just take forever.

Now, you want to promote RP and nudge people towards levelling through RP? That, in the current set up of the game is impossible. Not because of xp requirements, but because levelling through RP, barring the coded quests, means only one thng: Enlightenment from Paragons. Considering you can only get rewarded once every day, you're practically attached to another object by an inclined plane, wrapped helically around an axis. That's screwed for those that don't watch Big Band Theory.

But, to the original topic: Having two separate characters in two separate factions can cause a lot of issues in a game where a group is at maximum 9 people and it's been years from the last time that a group was comprised from nine ACTUAL characters. You'd have a point where Faction A would whine, holler and complain at you, because you decided to play your faction B character the moment Faction A's HQ was raided and their relic stolen. Which might have been avoided if you were stuck with only one character in a faction because you'd be there to defend.

A long time ago, an option with more merit that had been suggested was to either "usurp" a few factions into each other and moving from cabals and tribunals to cabunals (what MC is today) which was also shot down. Same with the suggestion to allow a single character to join two "related" factions, like... Fist and Talon. Also shot down.

Personally wouldn't mind seeing an option for one character in a cabal, and one in a tribunal, even if they're opposing.

Whenever I've had an alt who was on the opposite side as my main, I have gone out of my way to avoid PvPing with that alt. This avoids conflicts of interest. You can't avoid PvP with your alt if you join a faction with them. Any two factions can wind up at war with each other. I think it's a terrible idea to allow players to have characters in multiple factions because it will lead to conflicts of interest. Even if you do not wind up breaking any rules, everything will look shady to your allies, and ruin their game experience. Who wants to be wondering if their ally purposefully messed up the pvp so that his other character would benefit? Who isn't going to be annoyed with an ally who has another character jlooting him on a regular basis?

One faction per player is a good rule.

How about if Dulriks sets a minimum playtime to reach certain levels. Once you hit master, you would need say 30hours of game play per level. That would make hitting GM mean something and people would be less inclined to hit GM and re-roll another character to hit GM right away.

It would mean people would just idle and/or set up less than legal triggers to suffer through a ridiculous requirement.

I have seen deletions for that, I would expect it to be a more common if this rule was put in. In the end I think it would be worth the risk, At least to try it.

You would feel differently about this if you were better at leveling. This kind of change would drive a lot of good players away from the game. Requiring 270+ hours of gameplay to reach GM is just annoying, and a bad idea.

Even those of us who are slow at leveling don't have anything to benefit from that system, Mez.

The ones who are slow at leveling wont really suffer much since they suck at leveling. The Pwrlvlers however will throw a hissy fit that they cant just re-roll at a whim. That said, I still believe it would help many people keep characters longer. I also would expect this to get the same backlash of the cabal system
