SK Character: RAWR!
No. It wouldn't help players keep their characters longer. It would make them leave for the sheer stupidity. I've been playing for hundreds of hours and just can't get anywhere. Peace, out.

I remember the same threat was said when the new Cabal system was put in place, and people even decided to "boycott" it.

How did that turn out?

Fine. Make it stupid easy to get to mentor, same rate to get to master, and make it require RP reward-given xp to get to GM from there.

Earning GM should take MONTHS and should be only something someone who kept a long-term character should do.

Hell, I wouldn't be opposed to making reward xp give same as they do now (IE 1-2 ticks each time) and make that the ONLY way to get from 46 to 50.

It's a silly notion to see people rerolling new things every few weeks. It only encourages the behavior which is problematic (IE the behavior of syn, ardith, etc etc who spam reroll constantly). This is, after all, a roleplaying game.

For example (not picking on him but it's just an example) ardith has had 3 elf mercenaries in light aura factions in the past 2 months -- all with the same personalities/alignments/and motives. There's massive benefits to keep doing this, especially avoiding banishments and being able to not face any IC consequences from his actions (just can delete, wash hands, and repeat). In fact, he's flat out stated he carries grudges for players from character to character.

I can promise you, if you made it super easy to get to mentor/master and literally hard-stopped the xp gain from 46, you'd see this behavior evaporate instantly and true newbies could be more competitive instead of the same elite dozen or so constantly rerolling for OOC meta-game motivations. And for those who will say about abusing the paragon system -- it's already monitored. It'd be no different.

I wouldn't even be opposed to making it so that you had 1 character only allowed per person (would need an account system), but that'd be difficult to enforce.

Yes! Let us punish all players because some players do this! While we're at it some players cheat so I think everyone should be sitebanned. On a broader note, some people speed in their cars so perhaps cars should be outlawed. Your argument is so well stated, I believe we should treat everyone a certain way because of a small minority. Like those pesky star of david wearing folks...ya dig?

While we're at it, lets just rename this thread "I can't level so no one else should be able to either"

SK Character: RAWR!
Who says GM should take months? You? GM is a reflection of combat prowess, not value as a character. You're attempting to fuse two things that should be unrelated. Unfortunately, there's currently no way to ensure that the best characters have the most influence in game. HOWEVER, this would not do a damn thing to fix that.

If it is made one character per player, I will quit. I won't even think about it. I don't think I'd be the only one, either. When I have time to play SK, I shouldn't be forced to play a single character. If there are literally no people that my elven priestess knows on the who list, her RP-driven reclusive tendencies would make the entire game pointless for me to play. She's simply not going to venture out and make new friends without some more RP, and you would say that I shouldn't be free to do more than sit and enchant in solitude because I am only allowed to have one character? Or DELETE a character that I have had for well over a year that has plenty of potential just so I don't have to follow her roleplay? No, thank you.

While it is a luxury to play this game, it would cease to exist without a player base. Stop suggesting [REDACTED] that will make people quit. As you seem to realize, the people who you want to target with this sort of crap wouldn't even bat an eyelash.

I don't spam reroll, but seriously, get your head out of your [REDACTED]. You don't need to control the behavior of other players, because they do something you don't agree with, or are better players than you.

I would never say make it so only RP can get you XP, I can see Paragons doing a circle jerk (more so) and helping each other. I also don't think any limit on leveling should be based in real time. Just base it so that you can level up to mentor without a problem, then require something like 30hrs to continue leveling (which is very low) until they hit master and require 60hrs to continue leveling. Once you hit champion require 90hrs to continue leveling. Requiring 100 hours played is not a heavy burden by any stretch and would really only slow down the super levelers down.

And Keyrah, this has nothing to do with not being able to level fast. I could easily cut down on my hours played to hit GM by just ignoring all RP. My latest character hit GM in record time (for me), I also did the least amount of RP before getting GM (In fact, this is my first character to get GM before Par).

You are lying when you say there is no tie between power leveling and ignoring RP to power level and the deletion/re-rolling of characters.

The positives far outnumber the negatives (which is really only people whining that they can't GM in a weekend)

This is dumb. Really dumb.

I like frontloading the leveling process so that I can RP more, and do other stuff later on down the line.

This would help you RP more.

1: You (and everyone) would keep there characters longer so it would be overall less leveling since your leveling less characters
2: We would have many more established characters (Let's face it, The most memorable characters last long)
3: People would be less likely to switch sides because there's is losing
4: Having a GM character would mean something
5: Dulrik likes the idea of RPing before you hit GM
