I've got a great idea for a skill.

Code:
Stand still

Through sheer apathy, and wishing to not aid anybody, a swashbuckler can elect to stand still
and do absolutely nothing. This is useful in pissing off the group leader, and can be used freely
with no consequences.

nice

Actually, a Misdirect ability would be really cool. Where if a person is taunted the swash could use an active command to direct all attacks for one round to another for one round (friendly or enemy). Of course, Misdirect would only be allowed to be used every x rounds. Whatever x is, I don't know, but that would give swashies an offensive and defensive boost, so that they just wouldn't take any damage so many once out of every x turns.

Seems a little too good, and also oddly defeatable with a trigger (remove weapon).

Except mine looks cooler and is an active skill, yeah.

Earlier, someone mentioned that the reason they enjoyed swashbucklers was because they were fairly straightforward to play. This is a straightforward skill that buffs a class and adds plenty of active echoes that fire when it occurs. It is similar to one of the cabal skills that does the same to a certain type of attack.

a very adept swashbuckler can even occasionally misdirect attacks away from himself

Code:
Feign death
syntax: feign

Swashbucklers are so charismatic that in the heat of battle, they can convince their opponents that they have fallen, clutching their heart and falling to the ground. Assured that the swash is dead, combatants adjust their aim. Suddenly, the swash jumps back to his feet, laughing methodically, as he/she re-engages the foes.

What the swash see's

Code:
[100][100][100]
An enemy's massive weapon screws you over
An enemy's massive weapon rips you a new one
An enemy's massive weapon laughs at your mithril
[ 47][100][ 100]
Feign
You feign death!
An enemy's slash breaks your friend's face
An enemy's slash makes a small indent in your friend's ego
An enemy's slash deflects off your friend's ninja shield
[47][100][85] <--- ZOMG PE DRAIN
You resume the fight!
You continue fighting
You continue fighting
You continue fighting ...

What the enemy see's
Code:
[1000][2][40]
You screw over a swash with your massive weapon
You rip a new one in the swash
You make mithril look like cloth
A dastardly swashbuckler is DEAD!!
You hear a swashbuckler's death cry.
[999][2][37]
You do stuff to something alive
You do stuff to something alive
You do stuff to something alive
You are stabbed by the swash you just killed
You are stabbed by the swash you just killed
You are stabbed by the swash you just killed

That's not accurate. I've done a little testing with Aurenna, and Callie, and they're able to do more damage than that to my mercenary before dying. Of course that was without giant strength, and haste, but those change the dynamic in the favor of the user in any case.

That being said, I don't think I have relevant data. Nobody plays a top tier swashbuckler these days.

Re-engaging after a successful feign should be comparable to ambush or circle stab.

Play a swash and provide some legitimated suggestions, then. You said yourself no top tier swash has been played. Its time you step up to the plate.

There is not any chance that ardith will abandon Tolene to play a swashie. He is having too much fun playing her!

Here's an idea, remove the class. They no longer serve any real purpose and now just waste place.
