But what it sounds like they want is a weapon that has a % chance of some kind of knockout (ala headbutt) - which seems like it would require a decent amount of coding and balancing. Don't think this is where I'd have D spend his energy given a blank slate.

No, I would like a weapon that is in the mace category (rogues have skill in mace) that backstab, circle stab,... can be used with. No special properties.

Actually, I very much want this. You actually CAN dual-wield them, but only one will fire. If the Demon Hunter in D3 can do it, I want to do it, too...!

It only makes sense for the first shot from each crossbow. Then how do you draw it for the next shot when you have something in your other hand? In some ways, the bug is that we allow you to have anything in your other hand at all when using any type of crossbow.

Gnomeic engineered spring loaded magically charged handcrossbows, dual wield at own risk.
