there have been many changes to store bought pets. The large black horse there can't even knock down the doors in the outpost anymore. I think this is a feature.

[edit] Further testing and that horse now can't bash at all

We need a way to discern which "features" pets are equipped with, at this point.

Same concept as the equipment request. A shopkeep should be able to give me separate lists of bashing, mountable, etc pets upon request, or at least tell me about specific animals on his list.

I have to say, D, that your recent pet crusade has been pretty crushing to non-melee characters. Most pets that you've nerfed have lost not only their HP, but also climb, rescue, bash. Some of these are pretty critical utility skills, especially for priests.

I agree and will add that..

Also being forced to flee and lose XP when you run out of mana instead of just walking way is obnoxious.

These are the standards to which all pets are supposed to have been built. Most pets won't have a class now and if they do, it probably won't be a front-line melee class, as that costs the most pet points. You can debate which abilities any given pet should have. If you want me to fix camels so you can ride them, I can do that at the expense of something else. Almost any two or three selections (including a class) are possible, but not all or even most of them, which is how pets were built back in the day.

The entire goal of the pet building changes was that pets can be useful, particularly to lower level characters, but would not be particularly influential in a fight, especially at high levels. If you want an awesome pet, you will need to be a class that can obtain one. (And yes, I know that scouts could use a buff here.)

Here is the issue, low level classes like warlocks, sorcerers, bards, priests, and rogues, require to have a tanking pet. In terms of priests, bards, and rogues they are always required to have a pet with them unless they are in a group. Not really caring about them bashing or anything like that. But those classes absolutely need a tanking pet in front of them

By the time that any of these classes, except priests, need something sturdy in front of them, they have class features to give them that ability. Bards and rogues don't need something in front of them to level until very high levels, and even then they're fine in a few places.

Isn't circle stab their primary attack form apprentice+ for leveling?
