I think the principle goal of all this is to get players to interact with each other and help each other out and foster some RP. I've leveled to Master with nothing but a pet before with no difficulty in the past. Was pretty boring doing it too, admittedly.

As well, the mention of scouts needing a buff. Now they will be the only ones with the really impressive pets at higher levels. Throw a priest in the group to buff the scout's tame, and you really have something!

At least, that's how I'm interpreting all this.

The recent changes to pets screwed over anyone who doesn't have bash, easy access to fly, doesn't want to join a tribunal, and in general, characters that die from 2 rounds of getting hit with a spear or something and need to stay in the third row.

Mountable. Sanctuary. Bash.

Rescue is nice but not necessary. These three would fulfill my wishes entirely.

Back when I played Syrina and he got tore up as a GM bard in dragonscale by the lions sold in Garazul, I was all for advocating pet nerfs and such. It was a bit ridiculous the damage they could output. But honestly, some classes are just straight up vulnerable without pets. Bards for example. One bash and you have a dead bard. By themselves they are absurdly weak in the defensive department despite what people claim. A bard simply can't defensively stand up to some of the dps barbs and mercs can dish out.

Priests are the same way. And well, with warlocks, one wrong spell and you can't keep a storebought pet (Chain lightning and poof. It turns on you.)

How are support classes supposed to live long enough to flee without joining a tribunal now? (Looking at you priests / bards)

Make friends. Group up. Do what everyone else does. The pet will live long enough for you not to get bashed - you should spend that time running or recalling.
