When you say these things, it makes me wonder if you have played SK before.

I didn't say I AGREED with it. I was summarizing the original posters thoughts.

Charms not being allowed weapons would severely impact the ability of the effectiveness of charm person / control undead / animate dead, though. And I really do mean severely. Not everyone hoards super-high-level equipment for their charms, and for the most part, one or two weapons will do to give to your charmie of choice, which is no different to any other class.

That said, the reason why many people have weapons hoarded that I have observed recently is actually to keep those weapons out of the hands of their enemies.

That said -- and now that I tried previewing a post, I see that Dulrik cleared it up already -- the point of Dulrik's post was to clarify what spidermonkey meant.

Ok so is there a way we can limit the number of high level weapons one holds?

I do agree there should be weapons for chamrs/dominates/trib NPCs, but if we have one or two for us and one or two for them, we now have two to four high level weapons, that can easily turn to five or six. This is the majority of the issue.

The fact is that NPCs being able to be handed the weapons help leads to some of the problem.

The only problem with this idea? There are a billion high quality weapons in the game.

NPCs have already taken enough of a hit with the prevention of ordering stance. People hoarding weapons for their NPCs is not a big problem in SK as far as I have noticed. If you're allies with them and you could actually use said weapon, then talk to them and see if you can find a replacement. If they're your enemy, then just kill them with one of the million other high-level weapons that are in existence.

There are plenty of weapons to go around to people who are good enough to earn them or keep them.

Or just know someone.

Aratee hasn't had a problem getting 2 high quality weapons each time she dies.

Yeah. Not always of amazing subtypes, granted, but the game is not wanting of decent material weapons. And I am trying to show some love to the underrepresented subtypes.

Except bandalore. Bandalore can die in a fire.

I'll say this though: there aren't THAT many weapons available that can bypass stuff like stoneskin, resist elements, etc...

Hmm earn...

Ok it is really hard to EARN a weapon from some cheeseball who collects them, shrinks them to size tiny, then tosses them in a sack, then logs off or hides out of reach.

There are pleanty of mid range weapons that would work for charms and such just as easily.

Edit: Maybe adjusting the subtype ratio would have a better impact on what is hoarded and what is not.

Let me sum up your logic then.

Point 1: People are gathering up high-level weapons and then going inactive.

Point 2: ???

Conclusion: We should remove the ability for people to give weapons to NPCs.

I'm not the only one who notes the great discontinuity here.

Hoarders gonna hoard, haters gonna hate. Nerfing tribunals and sorcs isn't going to help the problem of newbs being unable to get weapons.

You can tell if players on the other side actually feel threatened by your character if they're hoarding the kinds of weapons you like to use.

Of course with changes to brittle/hardness I wouldn't feel this even an issue as a tanso steel weapon should be decent, except for the fact that ironguard is so [REDACTED]. Also those level flags. Those are flat out stupid, and shouldn't exist anywhere in the game.

Yeah, I do think it's lame that people like Alaric run around with 5 one-handed weapons, but hoarders are going to hoard no matter what. That's what they do. They only real solution is to kill them and liberate their loot, not come here and make an incomprehensible post.
