For leveling, yeah. There's no reason to not use something like a greatsword until you have 3rd/4th attack.

Sounds like massive bonus is still too good if it is still clearly the superior choice in all situations.

They're mostly talking about leveling, saying that when you only get 2-3 attacks anyway, you want to use two handed high-accuracy, high-damage weapons. It just so happens that all non-reaching massive weapons fall into that category, but it's not the massive flag that makes them desirable.

In PvP, using a massive weapon is a good choice, but definitely comes with enough drawbacks to be far from the best choice in every situation. It's a heck of a lot more sensible than everyone running around with epees or shurikens and doing more damage than someone with a greatsword.

Still not finding that very persuasive. The massive change was intended to give people motivation to use a class of weapons, particularly if they were already well suited to go that direction, not invalidate an entire other class of weapons. Perhaps you should only get the massive bonus for the first two swings in a round.

Makes sense that you'd be getting tired after the first couple swings of a freaking greatsword.

And that's what the increased movement penalty per swing was supposed to simulate, but nobody brings that up as a serious enough drawback to not use it all the time. But that's probably partly because movement is still so easy to get without bothering to train it.

Movement is only ever a problem when you are..moving.

I run out of movement due to that all the time. Never run out of it due to melee attacks unless you are aggressive and getting 6 hits, or using a bow. Or killing 23423535 NPCs.

Never ever seen or heard of the PE loss due to massive weapon causing any problems, and honestly, if you didn't say it was there, I'd have no idea it took more PE than a normal weapon.

You should probably take a look at the amount of PE loss a barb/etc suffers when attacking 6 times with an epee/etc in mood aggressive, and then make the PE loss for 3 hits with a massive weapon like..triple that.

6 quick thrusts/etc seems a lot easier than 3 giant heaving, cleaving swings that use your entire body weight.

What changes can we expect to be made with swashbucklers, and when will they be made?

No comment, no comment.

Are you recruiting help to build new items, areas, etc? I always enjoy that sort of thing.

I am not above giving people things to do if I don't want to describe stuff. :P

When can we have a bonanza or Hero's competition?

Whenever more than just one of us has time for the former, not as long as I'm expected to run them for the latter. Hero competitions are dumb.

Are you already burnt out on IMMing? I hope you stick around a long long time.

I don't know about sticking around for a "long long time," but I'm not burnt out quite yet. Busy is a better word. Work!

How do you think we can get larger numbers and foster a more nurturing environment for new players while still maintaining a more engaging environment for the vets?

It's simple, really, you *ahem* kill the Batman.

Seriously though? It would take a complete attitude change from a huge amount of players and a lot of aggressive recruiting.

How can I lose my permanoob PK status without spam dying, spending hours enchanting EQ, collecting armor, etc?

You can't. Spend the time to get better.

You're thinking "Doushita?!" and "Shine!" which mean "What's wrong?" and "Die!" in that order. Iori was pretty faithful to that character until I started pulling him away into his own character. I was 15-16 -- leave me alone.

As it stands, there is currently no downside to using a massive weapon, and there is no reason not to use one if you're using a 2-h weapon anyways.
