I don't see the two as mutually exclusive. Then again, I'm one of the ones who doesn't think that the hellion code can be twisted and warped to whatever fits the hellion's desire. I think Seram is who opened my eyes first to the playstyle of a hellion that really kept the code, and he was a Harlie, which is funny to me.

When suggesting changes, game balance should be the primary consideration.

This would not only buff hellions, but would severely buff any darkie group that had a hellion in it. If hellions got fear, they would be at the top of the list of classes I'd want to play. I'm not sure if the class itself would become overpowered, as an enchanted anything will still beat the pants off of them, and they're vulnerable to BoG.

I've always been in the syn/algon camp of "hellions are kind of bad," though. Intimidate is the saving grace of the class that makes them worthwhile.

I think hellions are pretty strong with the advent of reaching cleaving massives and impairment. They also have some combat utility with dominate, and can put out decent spell damage with hellfire, and I would say that hellfire damage got a buff with this update.

Fear is a thematically appropriate spell for hellions to have. That much is certain. You could take a few things away from them to balance it out: hide, sneak, and plague. Really, why should anyone in heavy armor be able to hide or sneak? It makes little sense.

Thematically appropriate? Maybe. Balanced? No.

Not at present. Adding fear would have to be offset by removing something(s) else. Less thematically appropriate things.

There is nothing you can remove from Hellions that wouldn't completely make the class something else entirely that would compensate for giving them fear.

Hellions are fine, move on please. We have other classes that need love (Rogue, Swashbuckler).

Fixed that for you.

Also not planning to add fear to hellions, although them having sneak and hide has always been a bit controversial. Hellions are in fact supposed to inform their target that they are coming to kill them (during that play session) before opening with a sneak cleave.

Since when did Rogues need loving? Last I checked Dual Backstab / Circle Stab is pretty painful, especially to casters and clothes. Or has something changed?

For some reason whenever Sargas gets active on the gameplay forums my desire to stop playing goes through the roof. I'm not sure why that is. Maybe you could switch to a sockpuppet account so I don't think your ideas come from a guy with significant influence.

No.

Fear is such a good spell that the only class which should be allowed to get it is the most frail class. If Hellions got fear it would be extremely overpowering.

Swashbucklers?!

Alternatively you could break down where you disagree with me instead of making this kind of post so that, theoretically, I can understand where you're coming from.

Also, I forgot Scout, so I guess it's actually Rogue/Scout/Swashbuckler. :)

The the only thing that's screwed up with scouts is tame. Dulrik clearly hates scouts for "fixing" tame to have lag.
