Shattered Kingdoms

With all the changes ready to go, I'm ready to see some fighting!

On Saturday, February, 2, 2013 at 5 PM Server Time (PDT), I will be looking to have a set of PvE and PvP fights for people to watch and participate in. I'll need three volunteers for the event. One volunteer will be organizing the order of fights. One will be keeping track of the fights in order to determine who wins. The third volunteer will be running the "Coliseum Control Panel".

I'd love to see you there. Hopefully the event will last a few hours. Anyone who competes and stays to the end of the fights will be rewarded with gold. I also will give the winning fighters the option to restring up to three pieces of non-unique, non-scripted items to their liking. If you're interested in volunteering, let me know what role you'd like via PM or email. Once I have the volunteers in place, I'll post here and let them start gathering a list of competitors to organize the fights ahead of time. Because the event takes a little prep to go smoothly, I'll hopefully let them get names of interested competitors OOCly and make arrangements ICly to have things ready to roll on time.

I now have three volunteers.

I've reduced the number of healing items that are given out in the battles. It seemed like there was a bit too much last weekend. I fixed the admit script so the pets will move into the viewing area properly. I added more food! I hope to have a battle sometime this weekend either tomorrow, Saturday, or Sunday. I wish I could give more warning, but alas work does not make it easy for me to know exactly when I can set aside the time.

In order to ease the confusion about the battles to expect, I'm going to start relaying the series of fights ahead of time. For PvE fights, I'll name the challenge and its reward for winning the fight as well as the payout for simply participating. For PvP fights, I'll try to be more specific about the numbers, whether its 1v1, group vs group, or multiple opponents at once. I'll also give the payouts for showing and placing in PvP events. My goal is everyone who participates in a fight gets some amount of gold and it scales up for winning fights. It will make things flow more smoothly and also help the volunteers to have a schedule to follow.

I welcome feedback on how to improve the events for spectator and competitors alike.

I really like the Coliseum format, and would only make two suggestions.
1) At some point, if would be neat if the Coliseum battleground really needs to have more than one room, allowing for ranged combat and group affect spells.
2) Spectators could really use the ability to glance, info, or look at the combatants to asses their current health.

Also, the health potions are pretty silly ridiculous powerful.

It might be better to scale the HP potions down to singles or doubles just for realism's sake.

I've reduced the number of potions that will be granted, but not reduced their potency at all. Before the number of healing potions would vary based on the group size, but now it only gives two per PvE fight. Herbs are still granted in both fights, but instead of five, you get two per group member. I think some of the challenges are strong enough that they may require healing, but maybe I've misjudged. I certainly thought that the wolves would be one of the easier challenges and they are absolutely not. I'll see what this next competition does and if its still imba I will nerf them. I could probably even nerf them on the fly if I see right out of the gates its unnecessary.
