laugh at #3. Paladins are amazing.
Paladins are solid but an argument could be made that their strengths don't quite make up for the RP restrictions regarding fleeing.
Yes, paladins are amazing.. Rhakeesh, however, sucked due to incompetence on my part during creation. That coupled with a complete inability to revise your stats once made.. don't bother mentioning mentor points. Rhakeesh needed 19 charisma, 8 dex, and 4 str, 1 int, and 1 wis at all times to have max stats. (pretty sure that's roughly accurate).
I rolled him gimpy enough that he couldn't use haste properly as he always had 4 enhancement bonus to dex in order to sit at 16.
I really did just about everything I could wrong when I created, but then kept him around to RP with.. Unfortunately, eventually the fact that the character you've created is utterly atrocious at pvp wins out, and you delete.. what finally tipped me over the edge was that rhakeesh simply didn't have enough slots to make up for his stat deficiencies... throw in weakness or a few chill touches and he'd drop his blade immediately. By the time his stats were modded enough that he could survive melee combat somewhat, I'd been forced to drop all his resist mods, willpower/fort/etc.
What do you do, live and learn.. don't max art and mana on a character who'll be expected to tank.
