The one coder thing isn't going to change. Probably ever.

As it's been explained, it is a pulse tick, and it is functioning properly. If it helps, consider it this way: You need to be able to take a big deep breath in order to exert the extreme amount of energy required to cleave, and you can't start "catching your breath" until after you've finished fighting.

Yuarcheer, no need to be that way, it's childish. I'm more worried about mastering my weapon that getting massive exp. Group leveling seems to work just fine so I don't know why you'd pretend I was looking at the aspect of it. Sorry Rod, I didn't mean to make you look like you didn't understand... I just didn't think you'd mention waiting up to 75 seconds after every single NPC kill... because it just doesn't make sense. And I get it now, apparently cleave and gore just aren't meant to be used for leveling unless you plan on solo leveling. No big deal. And keep in mind... this was in regards to all combat starting skills, not just cleave, as this has turned into. Anyway, after Yuarcheer's dbag remark, I think it's safe to say this thread can be closed. I appreciate all the positive feed back as well as a word from you, Meissa.

Aww come on. Give the Lady some credit. She gave you closer to 100 words.

And yeah, waiting 75 seconds after every single kill would suck a lot. That's the extreme of it, though. It'd be closer to 30 in practice, which still sucks when thinking about the grand picture of the entire life of your character, but taking it 30 seconds at a time doesn't make it seem so bad. Solo, I'd probably start with a cleave and fight fight fight until I had to rest. While resting, the cleave tick reset would occur, and I'd start with a cleave and repeat. If you want an opening move that doesn't have a timer like that, make a rogue. Which...actually, one of your suggestions was to make cleave work exactly like how backstab works in terms of time restrictions. Go play.

Yeah Yuarheer is new.

However, you're very right in that cleave isn't really worth using a lot while training in a group. When training alone it's a good idea to try and master it though, because having mastered cleave makes you look like a BAMF later.

Alright, I retract. It just seems to me that the question was answered pretty early on, and yet this thread continues.

The skill is what it is, and various-yet-similar IC reasons have been stated why you shouldn't be able to cleave (or gore) every other round, as well as why it won't likely change anytime soon. And yet this thread continues.

It sounded like you wanted to use it, and it alone, to level, and that you would like a coding change to suit your leveling wants. Now you point out about mastering the skill, and I can appreciate trying to master a skill that has a wait timer. There are some that have a much longer timer. Consider it the price to pay for getting to look like a BAMF later on.

It sounded like you were hoping for something for nothing, but apparently I am wrong, so I apologize.

Play on.
