I have made/deleted enough characters in the last day investigating my options that I feel I can say pretty conclusively that just confirming lots of chars gets you nuttin'.

Question, since it is possible for dwarves to be swashbucklers now. Any chance of their innate axe allowing them to also use it as a finesse weapon?

I've always thought swashes should have access to hatchets and throwing axes. Maybe this'll help.

yeah but without finesse there is no chance of it being viable.

These combinations aren't supposed to be "viable" - they are supposed to be bonus options. Dulrik definitely doesn't need to balance or tweak classes for loyalty token races - otherwise, they cease to be optional and become mandatory if you want to compete.

There are a few one-handed battle axes, which are massive weapons - dual wielding those should be roughly equivalent to using finesse weapons.

Actually, since massive weapons have a penalty to parrying for the wielder as well, I would imagine that would be a horrible idea for a swashbuckler.

You aren't going to parry a competent opponent much anyway. They are going to come at you like a wild spider-monkey with a highly enchanted weapon, specialization or fury, frenzy, and bless (maybe Phoenix Heart). It is pretty much why swashbucklers are terrible now.

Might as well do some damage yourself and use battle axes, if you are going to spend tokens to open up dwarf during creation.

Its an incentive to have a longer lived char to get more points for the next char. We are getting rewarded with playing longer so that we can play something else in the future. I think its great.

I hope you're right. If confirming an email address is all it takes to start accruing LTs, then I hope there are measures in place to prevent people from spam-confirming email on a bunch of characters to rack up a bunch of them. Depending on how many points you get for that vs. other methods of token accrual, it could be more effective to play shorter lived characters and just be sure to confirm your email on them.

This was accounted for a year ago when I originally added the loyalty token system. You only get tokens the first time you confirm a specific email address. And you can only spend tokens with future characters confirmed on that same email address. Merely confirming an address will not get you enough tokens to spend on anything.

Deathadder is right in that I am incentivizing long-lived characters with superlative RP and leadership abilities (certainly longer-lived than the average lifespan of a spam-rolling vet) by giving you some special options for your next character (which by its nature will also likely be higher valued and therefore longer-lived).

Swashbucklers don't parry. They don't have any advantage against the other warrior classes since specialization and berserk both give accuracy bonuses, and bless is an easy enough to get accuracy bonus.

I know I can run around with at least +20 in accuracy bonuses on my elf mercenary. This enables me to easily violate any swashbuckler I run across. I think the last test I did I didn't even drop under 80% hps.

The easiest way to fix the swashbuckler class is to remove all of these silly accuracy bonuses.

Are there any more questions about loyalty tokens?

The thread seems to be getting derailed...
