Okay, so we introduced Bloodpath to the game this weekend. It is, effectively, Mafia, a game which with many people are familiar. I'd like to post my observations from the perspective as an IMM, and I would like to hear yours. Despite some snags, I think that both events were generally successful. Thank you to those that were able and willing to participate. I hope that we may have more participants next time.
Sadal and I have been discussing doing this for months and have been very excited about the idea of it. Literally, I think we started talking about this in May, but there were some things we did not forsee. These include:
* The broadcast NPC in the mists (dead holding area) stopped working after every death and subsequent transfer into the room. I will have to see why this happens and apologize to the viewers who got silenced.
* People used tells, group tells, and faction talk to essentially cheat during the frist game. This, to me, was unbelievable. It stemmed from the fact that people are refusing to make their characters roleplay the Bloodpath game. Yes, your character is Wizard McWonderful, Champion of the Ninth sea in SK, but during the mafia game, nobody's race, title, IC friendships or any other factors matter. We make a list of everyone in attendance and roll a die. Anyone could be on the Bloodpath, and it is in keeping with the spirit of this game that your character should play along with that notion. A game within a game; a dream within a dream, if you will.
* The masks that were requested after the first game served only to be a headache in the second. Until we can butter Dulrik up to update the code (we heart you!), we will not be able to truly hide who's who. We will encourage the embrace of suspension of disbelief in the meanwhile and thank you in advance for your cooperation.
We wish to continue hosting Mafia/Bloodpath games for your enjoyment (and, honestly, ours). Please help us by relaying your gripes and/or praises for the remainder of this thread.
