If I were an imm solely responsible for dishing out punishments for bad RP and breaking rules. I would play A LOT. Alot a lot.

I don't want to pop that drama cherry, but I think the problem isn't the quantity of punishment lacking as much as it is the distribution of it.

There doesn't seem to be a way to really handle someone whose crime is "annoying the hell out of everyone" without lots and lots and lots of drama. Look at what happened to Syn. Maybe I'm advocating the instruments of my own demise here, but it really does create... well, "anti-bullying" is so popular these days that it seems strange to find that SK is mute on the subject with regards to the known conduct of some of its players. It gives the place a /b/ atmosphere.

I'm for making the game more casual.

One of the biggest problems with SK is that it is brutal to play. It takes a lot of preparation to go into the top tier of PvP via enchanting, brewing, gathering weapons, etc. Battles are nearly always won before they take place. And the loser risks losing all of that preparation because there is free looting allowed in the game. Players get discouraged when they have to put in a lot of work, but might get little in return for their investment.

He's technically right, so no need for surprise. It's just not a common opinion.

In a nutshell, because I'd rather see people spending MORE time at lower levels instead of less time. Because skipping straight to Master is also skipping all the potential roleplay and experiences that lead to you actually BEING a Master (as both a character AND a player). This mindset that the game doesn't start until Master (or even higher) is a malignant concept that deserves to be crushed.

Sure -- to someone who is just playing for the first time. The harsh reality is this: the grind from newbie to "Master" is a great learning experience when you're new, but it's infinitely less interesting when you're playing the game once you're a veteran. There ought to be some sort of middle ground here.

If I recall, someone told me it was a [REDACTED] to grind because that would mean fewer people would play throw away characters.

That being said, the vets who have mastered this game can level up even now in 30+ hours, where others who are in that permanewb or true newb status are stuck at champ/master areas going..."well [REDACTED] what quests do I know? What would have been reasonable for me to have learned about? Is there someone who knows something about this game online right now? NO? they only play at 3am on Thursdays? Well [REDACTED] I'm screwed, guess it'll be six months for me to GM at this rate". While that last part may be an exaggeration, essentially the only people capable of making throw away characters are the ones who already know the system.

The mentoring system goes as far as to help people with learning skills but if there's an influx of lighties or darkies who are low level and the opposite auras happen to be around training areas, mentoring doesn't do anything. Also being part of a trib or a cabal makes you a target. You can't exactly go out and help lowbie x train up or show them the areas at risk of having your face shoved in (because you can't carry a guard with you) and having their lowbie faces shoved in as well. There are people who will stun/loot/murder lowbies who are with the wrong auras for "being around bad influences" whatever those may be. It's one reason that we DO advise you to go level more before getting involved in a cabal or trib. Frankly if you're a low level and trib'd ..you're a walking target.

I'd be happy with a lower exp cap between some levels just to help with the grind. I get that we're supposed to be rping, some of us genuinely rp with as many people as we can before we're found out to be on the wrong side.

I'd like to see it more streamlined, easier, or maybe something like a "MENTOR" flag, so you can't be killed if you're leveling someone up between certain levels. It will help people actually USE the mentor system and more true newbies won't roll a character and go screw this because they got killed while training because who they asked to help them train.

I would argue that sk doesn't need marriages, whoever suggested that house playing should be rewarded needs a long talk about a game called second life... just...no.

I would like to see more interaction between the imms and the mortals as well. Just an imm taking over an npc can make the day change for someone who's icly having a crappy time. And not just to tell some slacker to go level.

Nothing about his statement is false, I am surprised by the source.

Heh... you're right, there. The zeal of alignment-based punishments has actually lead me to ignore other players on lightie characters until they have the ability to detect alignments. It just isn't worth the hassle.

Marriage was a small suggestion. A way to get ppl to rp more.
My main ideas were loyalty point farming, achievements, boss fights at leveling areas, and maps. The fact that marriage was the only idea really addressed sucks. Lol so forget I brought that up. But there should be rp achievements as well as pvp and pve achievements.
