I realize that the accusations of potential multi-playing are based on info-sharing, but that's impossible for me to prove one way or the other. What I can prove is that the two characters in question have never logged into the game at the same time and have never shared any equipment.

If you have a log showing that one of these characters passed information or acted on information they could not have had, please do bring to my attention. But until such time, there should be a stop to the accusations.

If you have ideas about how to automate preventing such types of info-sharing multiplay, I'd listen to those too. Although don't bother to start out with "stop allowing people to be in a tribunal with multiple characters". To me that's a straw man argument, since almost all examples of info-sharing multiplay can happen regardless of faction membership.

I have a suggestion. Only allow one character per hour per player. If you want to log a character out and play another, you have to wait until 60 minutes have passed.

I'd say thirty minutes. Usually if I log on one character and there's nothing to do then ill log on my other twenty minutes later, just because that's the suggested time to wait that sandal gave me.

We all know that "Show me the logs" is the equivalent of sticking one's fingers in her ears. It's transmuting the responsibility of monitoring into the burden of proof. It creates a vague atmosphere of plausible deniability when many instances of cheating cannot be captured in a single, legally-obtained log file.

Nearly every manifested problem on SK, from OOC yimterventions to in-game item scarcity and hoarding, would be solved if a one player per account system were implemented wherein a verification code was required to level up past level 40 and that code was sent via SMS and only worked on one character at a time.

The game should be aware of the concept of Mains and Alts. Alts should have fewer in-game opportunities than Mains.

It is just common sense. In a game where scarcity is one of the main balancing mechanics, and information sharing cannot be proved to the standards the staff places on enforcing rules sometimes, the erotic man-child or tit-posting pre-teen with a Staffer in his or her pocket can have an advantage when compared to the busily productive, YIMless citizen. Maybe that's why so many responsible people with kids and jobs reduce or stop their playing altogether whether immortal or troll. They know the odds.

I don't mean this cruelly, but we're in general discussion where flames are allowed, so I think I can safely tell you that every single immortal past and present is known by the community to have a list of at least two mortals they have bent, broken, and ignored the rules for. It would be nice if the degree to which that impacted people playing the game according to only the rules was limited by capping the degree to which one person can orchestrate an entire symphony of well-connected characters in a game hurting for players.

A Main/Alt system could keep everyone more accountable.

This wouldn't cause a problem for a household like mine where both I play and my husband does, would it? Since the IP address would be the same, I mean? Because if it wouldn't, that seems fair.

I believe that there could be a way to make that work.

I would also be in support of a main/alt designation as grep describes. Main can be a faction leader and advance past mentor. Alts can join groups, but not lead, nor advance past mentors. There are probably other factors which could be included in this.
