Eh, there's a "left of principled" that could be called Pacifist or whatever that I'd considered before making my original post, but it's not tenable within the context of the game. That kind of character couldn't level without breaking alignment, and there's a pretty strong argument that that kind of character actually wouldn't be considered "good" in a world where bad guys routinely murder the ever living hell out of innocent people.

I really like the idea of pacifist, but you're right about it not fitting with the game simply because you would never be able to lvl without breaking alignment. I understand you get xp for finding new places and paragons or staff can award it for rp, but if this were put into place, there would probably need to be some sort of rpxp system to regularly reward you for time spent roleplaying and not killing things if you ever wanted to have a character able to do much. That said, I think that the Pacifist idea would fit really well with the idea of Meissa or Aludra as game-related RP goes, provided there was regular rpxp available to level up without killing and thus breaking alignment. As to the argument of good, is it more evil to watch someone else kill, or to kill yourself, and kill the wouldbe killer? Either way, there's blood on someone's hands and death as a result. I think that's a very ambiguous grey area.

Within the established morality of SK, and arguably in general, a person who stands idle when innocents are being murdered is not a good person. As the saying goes, all it takes for evil to flourish is the inactivity of good men.

I like that point of view when it's your character talking; I don't really agree that it is basic truth about the game world.

I don't think I'd personally play pacifist often, if at all, but I think if there was a commitment to other-than-violent leveling paths it'd be a really interesting addition to the environment.

"An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind." Ghandi

"But I say to you, love your enemies and bless the one who curses you, and do what is beautiful to the one who hates you, and pray over those who take you by force and persecute you." Matthew 5:44 plain aramaic translation bible.

While what you are saying can make sense in context of the reasoning of a character with a 1 dimensional, never shifting alignment, that is not a fundamental truth of the game world. I do believe that tales of redemption are in shorter supply than they could be because of the alignment system, but a goddess who councils love and compassion, you are telling me, would rather have you killing your way to power than praying or doing good deeds? Can you make sense of that for me please?

Ah, young padawan. Aludra followers are much like the Abominable Snowman from the Daffy Duck cartoon. When it comes to evil, they will name him George and hug him and pet him and squeeze him and carress him...

And love him to death. Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!

I'm watching Game of Thrones and I'm seeing three different forms of what I'd consider light aura.

Daenerys
Eddard Stark
Ser Davos

And like, maybe you guys can make that work more than I could.

No, it isn't. My hardline lighties might be disgusted by deserters and traitors, but I always follow strictly the rule against killing other lighties.

GoT is not based on a strict dichotomy between good and evil.
