What about the levels at which different classes get dodge?

Sorcerors get dodge at amateur, for example, while mercenaries, paladins and other heavy armor sword classes wait much longer.

Can dodge, like dagger, just be a universal amateur skill?

Bump.

Really.

Why do less melee oriented classes get dodge earlier?

The timing of dodge has been retained from back when dodge was not a universal skill. It now is, like it should be, as moving out of the way is a universal instinct, much more universal than dagger.

Priests are the most common of the clerical vocations and can be found in all

receive spells from their god in compensation.

Straight from the help file. Regardless what we want the class to be. There is a background to the class in game that is determined already. If you guys want to dodge and play a support, play a shaman. They didn't trade dodge for spells.

Sorcerers are the most common of the wizardly professions, although they can
be hard to find in the more uncivilized kingdoms. Sorcerers are extremely
weak in physical combat, but their spells are a must for any truly worthy
group of adventurers. Sorcerers concentrate on those spells which affect
the world and people around them.

How does that differ? Both help files say they suck at physical combat.

Don't priests get shield block?

More importantly, good lord, who cares.

I'd rather Dulrik spend his limited time on interesting or needed changes, not considering whether priests need dodge or not. If you're playing a priest and wishing you had dodge, you are doing it completely wrong. The only combo this possibly matters for is Fist Priest, and given the number of Fist players posting in favor of it...Unsurprised.

Actually it would matter regardless of preferred Cabal. Who wouldn't want to take advantage of an extra saving type throw against an attack, especially a melee one?

What self respecting Bard would carry a shield anyways? |One can not play the Lute, Flute and Harp while holding a shield! .... Oh wait....
