I decided to take a look at the top 10 on Top Mud Sites after I voted, and I noticed a familiar with pattern with almost all of their websites: a splash page that highlights news, events and developments - including changes to zones, equipment, abilities and bug fixes. They don't bury it on a forum or tell their players that "they have no expectation to be informed" about changes.
Personally, I would like SK to follow suit. Seeing a splash page with news, events and a change log could attract players because it makes the game appear to be evolving and alive.
I believe the "cynical" comment was in response to the idea that players should feel pleased that they've gone from not being informed about specific building efforts to being somewhat informed about some building efforts? Fair play, though I can see it both ways.
