How it looks to me is when you check the helpfile for alerts the (IC) (OOC) tags show which ones are considered valid ic info. So I'm pretty sure if you get an alert it's basically your character getting a communication as they normally would as if currently logged in.

Yes, the messages are specifically IC. Your character was communicated via another character. Specifically the body of the alert looks like this:

Mentorship Alert wrote:
A Collegium Instructor tells you 'Julias has enrolled in training.'

Actually, it's exactly the same message that you would receive if you were online. When you logout, your character doesn't really disappear from the world. They just go back to their non-adventuring life. So these certain parties are still able to contact you.

Can we add to the alert system if someone is looking for a specific class for help? Like Lorain needs a sorc to resize or something? Or Liliana needs a bard for lore. Or Orik needs a priest for life.

That sounds like an enhanced variation of the looking for party alert. So, maybe?
Alternatively, you could write a note to all the bards you know and they would get alerted.

If we went with a Rez request alert, it would be nice if it was specified toward aura or tribunal or things of that nature. I wouldn't want to send out a "hey guys, my loot is free for the takings come and get it!

Is it possible to get alerts sent to an email that is different from your email conf email address?
I have a lot of junk that comes to this email address and have notifications turned off. A more SK-specific email address would be ideal.

You can request a change for your confirmed email address to something else. Then you will need to reconfirm that one.

If I were to change my email, I'd lose the Lt's associated with it, wouldn't I?
Also, I've noticed alerts going to my hotmail. Does this mean that I shouldn't have any more issues with email verification emails coming through to my hotmail, if I want to roll a snowflake?

I am pretty sure that I have managed to perfect the email change process so that it transfers the LTs correctly. But it doesn't come up very often, so there might still be some unresolved edge cases.

I haven't seen anyone do this yet, so I thought I should point out that you can toggle on/off any combination of party goals.

Quote:
Syntax: party goal [rp|pk|xp|gp|any]

[HP:100%] [ME:100%] [PE:100%]
> party goal pk
Party goal set.

[HP:100%] [ME:100%] [PE:100%]
> party goal gp
Party goal set.

[HP:100%] [ME:100%] [PE:100%]
> info

Party Name: Dulrik's Party
Goals: [GP][PK] Destination: Menegroth

'Any' is used to clear them all back to the default.

When the message is sent out the various goals get relayed like this:

RP - conversation
XP - experience
GP - treasure
PK - mayhem

Note: You should consider 'treasure' to be as much or more about acquiring items than actual currency.

So if you set all four of them, your prospective party members would get a message like:
An astral watcher tells you 'Dulrik is looking for adventurers like you for conversation, experience, treasure and mayhem at Menegroth.'

If you don't set any of them, instead it the message would look like this:
An astral watcher tells you 'Dulrik is looking for adventurers like you for a trip to Menegroth.'

Being specific about the goal(s) of your group will make it more likely to get responses.
