I have had my most fun on SK when the majority of the playerbase did not know who I was. One person knew though, the person I made the characters to play with. And I find the characters I have rolled since have not been as fun. No one plays quite like him and I enjoy playing with him.

So for me it takes a balance. I like to play with certain people. But the characters actions need to be IC. When things become OOCly motivated, the magic of the game is drained.

I also love talking to certain people who also play the game. But the people I talk to the most I've never played any characters with. I just think their funny and intelligent and generally entertaining (example: Saladman here).

So will I cut myself off from the p-base? No. Will I keep my characters hidden from certain people? Yes. Should everyone be bound to play one way? No. Screw you all for thinking so.

Long post, etc.

My first post was sent before you had edited the opener, so none of what I wrote was answering your questions. Besides, if you had read the following paragraph after the 'solutions', they were not actually an opinionated response, but a bridge between the body and the conclusion. I am leaving the experts to answer your questions, and naturally, within boundaries players are encouraged to play the way they want.

I actually do the same thing as Jada. When I make a char. I don't let anyone know. It is also not uncommon for me to make a new forum name for when I get into a trib/cabal. Currently only 2 people knows that I am the player of my current char.

I am on SK logs. For the most part, I don't go into the OOC info place (only time I did was to check out racial info, which ended up moot because I chose my race for RP despite the disadvantages of it). And I don't go into the logs area. I agree the more stuff I know OOCly, the 'magic' seems to disappear.

Good RP is about creating good stories. Not that every roleplay element is about that, but that's the payoff, whether measured in dramatic plots or amusing character bits.

PK is great if it's a story element, and annoying if it becomes the game's focus.

Likewise, OOC interactions can be fine if they further the story. Why else even have OOC forums for factions and religions?

So I'm rather inclined to defend movers-and-shakers. Whatever complaints you may have about them, they aren't dull. I think the only problem is behavior that's not well motivated ICly.

I think people should share more OOC info *gasp*

Well certian things like where to level should be shared. It is not fair for someone like me who does not know how to Plevel to be leveling the same [REDACTED] guy while I see a whole generation of charactors be created and GMed then deleted a few times before I get to hit Champ. It sucks that it takes me about 3-4 months to GM a Priest while it takes other about 2 weeks (or under).

As for stats and spells. Well I believe stats should be shared. Unless you want a few power gamers to know how to create near perfect charactors and others training thiere all wrong. Making an lopsided PK arena.

Finnaly the RP and creation of new areas.

RP should NEVER be shared OOCly. I rarely if ever check out the RP or logs from the sklogs. Thats it. NEVER share RP info regardless.

Lol, this is -all- [REDACTED] you can legitimately find out ICly.

Also, it IS fair that if you don't know how to level that it should take longer. Stop QQing and learn.

I am learning 8)

Also, it seems people are more willing to tell me OOCly where to go then to take me thiere IC unless they themselves need to go level as well. Also, if they do need to level as well and know where to level, they usually do not want me to go with them because I will slow thiere leveling being that I am new. Not to mention chances are they are most likely going from one leveling area to the next without giving me any chance to RP with them.

Never sharing RP info is a VERY valuable lesson, and some skplayers end up learning it over and over again.
