Well, you must know the game very well then, since you know every NPC that casts color spray. It's true, I suppose, that everyone should carry cure blind potions/herbs in their inventory, but you have to actually know where to get them first. Not every new player has an instinctive grasp of sk's layout, nor always the money to buy them. Also, many of the times I've been blinded, I've had cure blind herbs/potions with me, but I usually don't keep them in my inventory since put all <container> is very much easier than put item <container> x 10. Which often means I put my potions away because I don't need them (which I don't always). I suppose the problem is that a change to blindness would mean that people can take their recall potions and heal potions out, and we can't have that, can we? I like the idea of a bit of lag while blind.

I don't want to sound like the devil's advocate, but if as a player you have access to the 'enchant armor' spell, color spray should never touch you.
Although it does make sense to have the ability to get any item from your backpack when blind.

Man, it's simple as that:

If you have the money to buy cure-blindness potions and know where to get them, you simply KEEP THEM IN YOUR INVENTORY. Thus, there goes your moot argument that you "don't know the game too well", otherwise, it would make no difference whether you get them from a backpack or your inventory, would it now?

It doesn't take any supreme experience of the game to know where to buy simple potions like that in MAJOR cities. I knew about them since the FIRST week of playing the game. All it takes is some (OMG) interaction with other characters and have some things identified (OMG, what a secret spell!).

I always keep two things in my inventory: A couple of cure-blindness herbs/potions (because they are the only ones that you can't reach to otherwise) and a potion of recall. It does not take some extreme game knowledge to think to do so.

Now, if you still choose to be a lazy-bum and expect anything handed out to you, well, be my guest, but don't expect to be taken seriously in the real world. Good luck with that anyhow.

I think the term you were looking for is "moot argument."

A.
My point wasn't just that you can't get anything from your inventory,
it was, actually, that you can't do ANYTHING, short of yell for help.

B.
Finding them is one thing. Not everybody has a few platinum to spare while they're training. But maybe that's another example of my inability
to play the game properly. I certainly didn't have a lot when I was leveling.

As for getting anything handed out to me... I might be asking for too
much. I mean, putting your hand in your backpack while blind and
rummaging around might realistically be possible, but I can see
how this would be too much for some people to take.
Maybe if I stopped coming with such unreasonable demands people
wouldn't be so offended.

Agreed!

I could be down with this as long as you had to specifically target the item you're trying to remove. You couldn't look in your backpack, but if you already knew something was there you could "feel around for it" and pull it into your inventory.

Here's a question though. Since you're so blind you don't even know what you're wearing, how do you know you're quaffing the right potion?
At least if we're talking about brewed potions.

It would be nice.

Knowing I have a "plastic toy dragon" in my backpack should allow me to
"get plastic back"

It sounds more reasonable than being able to view what's inside the backpack.

Ok, make it so ;)

Little letters etched into the glass. Or brail raised on the cork. Gimme a break. It doesn't have to be 100% realistic, but only being able to specifically target items you already know you're carrying in a pack is a good balance to the ability to manage inventory blind.
