I on the other hand won't entertain you. A Clooney impersonator would still look like Clooney after being shot by an arrow, just like Clooney with an arrow sticking out of him.

How do you think disguise works? Is it a physical mask, clothing with pads to increase size? That clothing would be ripped off and your original clothing under it would be showing. The mask would chip and break, showing your true face behind it.

If it's magical, does it require some amount of concentration? If it's the latter, then oh...nevermind. Otherwise, I still think that being hit by anything would damage your disguise, and that's what I'm using to rationalize that the disguise becomes useless after being hit.

You might be able to tell someone is wearing armor under a disguised appearance, but an arrow to the chest, or face even, wouldn't necessarily remove the makeup (I find it silly to think they are wearing some kind of mask that would be obviously noticeable), and yeah, maybe a near miss could tear a wig off.

I'm still going with no. It doesn't seem like a broken feature to me.

I've taken a punch or two IRL while in drag and my dress never fell off. Just saying.

Fleeing already breaks disguise, being involved in combat while disguised makes the disguise last much less longer, and you cannot disguise while your pulse is racing.

I think it's fine enough as it is in that regard.

This isn't a change to address how long disguises last while in combat.

This is more to address the disguise/skirmish topic debate. What I meant was I'm not suggesting any change to how long a disguise lasts while in combat, meaning that if you're third row and can't be hit by anyone, my change won't affect you. I'm suggesting that if you get hit, disguise is removed.

I mean, I don't care if you look at it that way, but I see a difference. *shrug*

And I don't think a color spray would destroy a disguise, if you would like to look at it that way.

Ah, that's a great point, and something I'd like to factor in to my idea. A rework of disguise, instead of a simple drop. Applying a disguise will simply add a slot to your characters equipment that only you can see, and being hit with something that had the ability to damage your other equipment will damage your disguise, but at a much higher rate. Have it made of paper or something, I don't know. I'm merely trying to find a compromise for the skirmishing silliness.

As others have pointed out, disguising as a gangly halfling should be fine, but not when you're with the disguised one and the NPC guard in the same room. You look at the disguised one clearly see the equipment that your guard has never owned, but skirmish might still hit the NPC. Perhaps a new skill needs adding...a skill to de-disguise. It could be considered an offensive skill as your are essentially attacking someone's integrity. If someone thinks that's a good idea, write up a poll or another topic for discussion or whatever, as I'm on my phone in bed and the NyQuil is kicking in, so :sleepy:

Just because you people have lousy skills in targetting, you want disguise to be changed? I say no, you learn to target and leave disguise make sense. Yes, one MAY be disguised as the NPC in the same room, it makes sense. If you wanna distinguish them from the armor LOOK at them and select the proper target. Simply do not rush into a room where a disguised person may be, immitating an innocent in the same room. Would you do that IRL? Then don't use skirmish against disguised ppl.

As about the fact that disguise is made of cloth and masks, so? Does this mean that it would fall off after the first (couple of) hit(s)? Doesn't make sense. Disguise is being removed when the person gets stunned anyhow.

To sum it up:

1. Learn to target
2. Leave the skills making sense

Thank you

I've never liked the idea of "You don't like disguise because you can't target," because no one is going to always glance at their target mid-PK just to make sure that they're not going to misdirect onto a party member. Doing that would take forever and you'd spend half the fight with your thumb up your butt. It's extremely common to run into targeting issues in PvE and PvP just because someone had adjectives or disguises with the same first three or four letters as someone in your group.

I vote no, but I suppose it wouldn't be entirely unreasonable for getting hit with a face full of acid blast to take down any disguise.
