You can't have your cake and eat it too. If you wanted a caster who could take some hits, you'd have trained hps and not art like we did back in the old days. This is one of the reasons why, back when art was instituted, that people were convinced that sorcs could have 16 art...they'd have [REDACTED] hp and would be dog meat for anyone with melee. It's called balance.

Common Joseph, give me a bit of credit. :p

Sorcerors max at 4 HP trains. An extra 40 HP isn't going to do anything. They have [REDACTED] and balls for HP no matter what you train. I have max constitution to btw.

Yes, they are, paladins with etherealform! Along with golden griffons with etherealform, ayamoan enforcers, midnight guards, necrophidii, etc...

No. Ethereal bounty NPCs were the greatest thing invented. I played in a tribunals back when this was implemented and it was GREAT because sorcerors or necromancers would just waltz on in, wreak havoc, and no one could stop them. Now, they have to think logistically. I hate how people think ethereal is meant to be this protective shield that'll always keep them safe. Its not. There's ways around it and bounty NPCs were one of them.

Yes, an ethereal sorcers just waltzes on in and wreaks havoc, ethereal...

I'm sure all that dispel magic'ing that went on caused the city to collapse. Please, think.

Ethereal -IS- a protective shield meant to keep people safe, there -ARE- ways around it. You shouldn't need NPCs to have abilities they normally wouldn't have to do the job of a player.

Ethereal bards can persuade people to attack eachother, shrug. Ethereal sorcs can dispel magic you, can't they? Maybe not.

Ethereal sorcs/necros can order NPCs to hit you, though. It's a good thing neither of these classes rely on ordering to do damage! Oh wait...

Sure, there's also plenty of guards in most cities that can dispel magic themselves, making etherealform risky business as is. I know for a fact taslamar actually has guards that are ethereal themselves.

An ethereal sorceror can hold one charm, and he/she will lose mana at the tick. A deep-elf -might- be able to pull two, but the mana loss would be very high. Pretty much any PC out there can deal with 1 charm.

Wreak havoc is something they can't do ethereal. Mild annoyance? Maybe.

Only PC warriors can deal with one charm. And losing mana is meaningless when we have heal energizer at every corner, just to clarify.

I think witherwood can talk about his old expert sorceror waltzing in and laying waste to Exile with just 1 NPC better than I can.

Yes, and there's also plenty of ways of avoiding such NPCs as well. (Like BASHING with your charmie)

As for the already ethereal NPCs of taslamar, thats the only kingdom I can think of where they start out like that. But then, I can start to see why Taslamar has had a lot of better defensive edges. I started playing about four years ago and Taslamar has been quite possibly the single busiest pked city I ever saw. Sure, Nerina once in a while for like two months, but its always exile that deals with crap.

As for tribunal members ordering such NPCs to do things like dispel, thats if the tribunal members are on. Sometimes these sorcs/necros did this when the tribunal wasn't on JUST because of that.

Was this before or after charms were nerfed? I remember an expert half-elf sorc witherwood had, and it was quite some time before charm HP was standardized.

The only players that are going to die to one PC charm now a days are front row casters. Any warrior/paladin will handily dispatch it, and any class with a pet can easily as well.
