Greys can just mug them. No loss there.

Nothing is wrong with request or the current system for non-lighties.

Aye, you all are looking at it from the -PC's- point of view however, that's where it differs. I'm looking at it from the -NPC- point of view. A grey aura or dark or whoever can choose to be nice and decide to just mug a weak NPC for some meaningless piece of loot, but that still means the -NPC- choose to die or risk death defending his rotting broom, rather than just hand it over.

That's what the whole thread was about, NPC choices, not PC choices.

Although this does -make sense,- I doubt that it will get implemented. That might sound a bit odd, but I get the feeling that the request command was implemented with a lot of rules (perhaps to avoid abuse) and that was because lighties in general "should" use violence as a last resort.

I think Dulrik just doesn't feel like having items obtainable without any sort of challenge or risk behind them. In the case of lighties, they at least face lag associated with their request.

EDIT: It makes sense for NPC choices, yeah. But psh, NPCs aren't people.
