I'm still curious as to exactly where it was. Novice (1) is literally right out of the training area. Heck, even reincarnating at that point doesn't matter because you can get it back in 5 minutes from the newbie grounds.

Probably a builder issue, if anything. But if he was anywhere that isn't on the way to or from his own capital city I'm not sure it's a horrific thing.

And yeah, since he just posted again, I don't consider a novice(1) character going offroad and dying to be something to get worked up over.

That cogar is EVERYWHERE and it is a monsterous beast. It needs to not be able to wander across the mountains onto the roads.

That's a newbie who still doesn't understand the game and hasn't interacted much that could ostensibly go "wow, that's [REDACTED]" and just quit. Which I've seen happen now, twice!

Not to mention on that same road is sometimes (very rarely) naji and some insect. Don't forget everyone's favorite aggro beastie on the road that imp.

I understand that, but unless you're going to refactor the whole "muds have aggro NPCs in them" thing, then maybe the best idea would be implementing some more warning signs in newbie areas like "Hey, don't go off road unless you're okay with dying to some random crap."

I'm all for ensuring that aggro NPCs don't go on roads, but this specific case wasn't on a road!

Back in the day, I remember living in fear of the fadelions in Taslamar. I'm not sure if they are no longer aggro or if they just stop messing with you at a certain status, but I've avoided Devan woods on every one of my characters until about J-man since 2001.
