I've heard on what I consider to be a reliable source that bless ignores level, so I think you're wrong on that whole "underestimating GM bless thing." I don't think that I'm underestimating it at all, it's really just lame.
I may be wrong about that, I don't have cool friends that are imms that give me that sort of info. I am just saying from personal experience, Bless works against Fear, it also works against a lot of other willpower based spells. Keep in mind, this is coming from a PK-active Paladin, that mainly battles against dark aura magic users. I am sure, those that play with me in regards to PK, can probably point out the day I started to keep bless active all the time. Why? Because their spells, including fear, have had a significant drop in how often they land their spells. Before I used bless, I got rocked every time I tried to fight Ealuriel, etc. Now that I use bless, her spells don't land as often. Still doesn't mean I win though.....
. I am still learning though and having fun while doing it. One thing that I have learned the hard way though, is that if you are a paladin, keep bless up.
Here is another hint at how good bless can be. I don't enchant my armor at all any more since using it; plus I wear the Sacred Armor of my faith which everyone tells me sucks. I have found in play testing that my bless is better then a full suit of enchanted armor. Now explain that, mister "I know everything about that game and I tell everyone to enchant their armor or they suck and bless is a lame spell".
