I figured a thread to discuss socials that might need changing would be appropriate, after reading Dulrik's posts in Newbie Help. Which socials do you feel need tweaking?

Personally, I'm with GL on wave - waving "happily" is pretty random, in terms of the available adverbs. There's also tip - considering how almost no one in SK wears hats, tipping your hat pretty much makes no sense.

Suggestions on new socials would be neat-o, too, I think.

Just had to make that point in it's own little reply window cause it matters to me so much.

I tip my hat IRL sometimes when I'm not even wearing one...not like you have to be in the military to salute. Know what I mean?

I love the socials we have and we need more, not less.

Awesome socials:
voodoo, circle, headbutt, finger, beer (by itself and targeted), bcatch, yodel, scoff, bslap, snowball, laces, claw, bleed, blade, explode, and beard.

Mudsexxor socials that we could stand to lose:
blush, kiss, french, bkiss, nibble, massage, undress, wiggle, stare, strip, stroke, squeeze, nuzzle, pant, snuggle, cuddle, spank, and honk.

Suggestions for Mudsexxor replacements:
ninja, assassinate, pirate, harhar, murder, blade1 (blood of enemies), blade2 (blood of friends), robotdance, deedeedee, horse (pretend to be a horse), badger, and of course flash/poledance

Yah, I'm just messing around. If you don't like socials don't use them. What would you wan't 'tip' to be other than tipping your hat? Put a dollar in their thong? Keep it.

I like the idea is to have a few adverbs per social. The examples of wave given in newbie forum.

Maybe even an auto adverb social on off

adverb social off
wave bob.
(as per normal)
wave dismiss bob
They aren't there.

adverb social on
wave bob
undefined adverb

Wave dismiss bob. Ends up as XXX waves dismissively at bob.
So rather than adding your text it is a second augmentation of wave social to get you a different social.

Your not going to get everything you want with a social but this would make socials a lot more useful in many situations.

This could also add in the language problem of mistaking something for something else. Low train on language skill might return a different social for example waves happily rather than dismissively.

I just feel that socials should be stripped of most if not all "emotions" - So and so waves happily. would become So and so waves.

Also, I want peck to be changed so that instead of giving someone a peck on the cheek, you peck their eyes out, nibble on the giblets, swish it around in your mouth, and then spit it back into their ocular cavities.

Just one of life's simple pleasures, you understand.

These two have bothered me since I've played.

I don't think they need to be removed, just tweaked.

yeah...so many times have I tried to stare at someone in shock, and ended up feeling like I'm roleplaying a candle-lit conversation over a glass of wine.
:o , if you know what I mean.

I stopped putting "you" (read: years ago) in emotes because "you" can only work in a 1-on-1 environment.

Even now in a 1-on-1 environment, I would substitute "at the man; at the woman; or some other thing to note the direction the emote is aimed at.

That doesn't include using the character's name.

Otherwise if I typed in 'emote stares blankly at you.' then it would be directed at everybody in the room, which is quite impossible.

And I still find emote quite limiting.
