Master lvl skill: Energy penetration

Desc: This skill decreases an enemy's defensive capabilities against spells cast by the caster. The warlock is so in tune with the elements that is it hard for others to resist their magics.

In other words, spells casts by the warlock has a chance of mitigating some of the target's MP. This chance isn't 100%, but if mastered it would be about 50%.

Warlocks would be better off with some changes to their general utility:

1. Letting elementals use the saves of their caster.
2. Allowing warlocks pets at the same time as elementals, just like other spellcasters. There's absolutely no IC reason for this to be disallowed.
3. Giving warlocks a warning a tick before the elemental fades (your companion yearns for the elemental planes) and allowing them to resummon immediately upon the dispelling of the elemental.

I'd rather see more of the kind of things Jardek is talking about before we go adding more skills to the warlock. Tweaks to the overall usefulness of the class instead of brand new problems.

YES!

Mostly the #2 one for me, I hate having to leave my elemental to go get a certain pet used for utility purposes and be 'naked' until I get the thing and have him do his dirty work.

4. Redo the way that timers still tick while you are dead so when you get wtfpwned you can actually make an elemental when you get back to the land of the living instead of having to wait another half hour after you can wait forever for a priest.

Number 1 and 3 yes, number 2 a definite no. Warlocks shouldn't have survivability issues, so number 2 is not needed.

If anyone has any facts, proof, experience and good arguments for number 2 I could be persuaded, but for now it's a no.

I just want to be able to get one pet that is able to cast a few spells. I don't need a pet used for combat and my elemental, all the pets sold at the shop in question are only used for utility AFAIK and in fact I only ever see people using the one that shares a common trait with the warlocks master level spell (sorry I'm trying not to give out IC info)

Is there any reason I should have to go through the hassle of going there without an elemental, or going there with my elemental then freeing it, then being without an elemental until it would have left, or trying to time it that I get there right when the elemental is going to leave? Its a lot of BS just so I can get a pet that isn't used as a tank or damage machine at all and I always end up freeing it as soon as I have it cast a few spells.

There is one other pet shop that sells 'pets' but more like 'slaves' that has a utility function also I wouldn't mind being able to have with my elemental.

My Question to you Snuffles is this: Why does it make sense that a sorc can charm two GM NPCs and have a pet, or a necro can animate six wraiths and still have a pet but a warlock with an elemental and a pet is ZOMG OVERPOWERED!!!

What's wrong with faerie fire?

Probably because warlocks don't get faerie fire.

I would also like the lower level elementals to level with you so that by the time you get Fire elemental, you then have a range of choices. Also make each elemental immune to its elemental damage and don't let them break unit coherency.
