If anyone has any facts, proof, experience and good arguments for number 2 I could be persuaded, but for now it's a no.
I just want to be able to get one pet that is able to cast a few spells. I don't need a pet used for combat and my elemental, all the pets sold at the shop in question are only used for utility AFAIK and in fact I only ever see people using the one that shares a common trait with the warlocks master level spell (sorry I'm trying not to give out IC info)
Is there any reason I should have to go through the hassle of going there without an elemental, or going there with my elemental then freeing it, then being without an elemental until it would have left, or trying to time it that I get there right when the elemental is going to leave? Its a lot of BS just so I can get a pet that isn't used as a tank or damage machine at all and I always end up freeing it as soon as I have it cast a few spells.
There is one other pet shop that sells 'pets' but more like 'slaves' that has a utility function also I wouldn't mind being able to have with my elemental.
My Question to you Snuffles is this: Why does it make sense that a sorc can charm two GM NPCs and have a pet, or a necro can animate six wraiths and still have a pet but a warlock with an elemental and a pet is ZOMG OVERPOWERED!!!
