I've noticed that I am talking to people left and right about Marfik and most all of them are being invested.

Then I type 'who religion' and there are only about 5 active Marfikians...

I would like to strongly suggest to any new players on here, if you are going to invest your character into a religion, it is a good idea to plan on KEEPING the character for a while.

Thank you.

An average of five out of thirty are wonderful numbers.

No, people aren't obligated to keep their characters forever just because they got invested. Investment is really a right in SK, not a privledge. (As long as your character meets the religion's requirements, of course. No diabolic Dulrikians, for example.)

Unlike cabals and tribunals, religions are designed to be easy to get into. These groups can be great fun, and it's good that they're accessible to newbies.

As Fepel noted, your numbers are wonderful. But if your religion really is having retention problems, maybe you need more group activities or plots. I've played recruitment-oriented priests; they're lots of fun. But you need to make sure your established members aren't neglected.

Uhm, maybe not everybody plays at the same time as you. Did you give that any thought?

who religion only shows you who is logged on

Flock shows you the complete list of followers whether they are logged or not

Sorry that I think you should take being invested seriously, instead of making character after character and having them invested at amateur only to delete.

I don't think that's what anyone is saying here at all. People get bored of characters, sometimes days within getting into a cabal or tribunal as well. It doesn't take much effort anymore to get into a religion, given the whole right thing that was pointed out.

That one in five number to me is about the number I've seen across the board of a) characters that last months instead of weeks, b) players invested in religions that become established, c) players inducted into tribs/cabals that become long-term/established.

I would rather a character RP at amateur, then be a blobless entitity that deletes. Veterens have said for years when you make a character to have a concept. It's good these noobie players have done such, even if they don't make it so long. You sort of have to take this thing in stride. Like others said, consider some events/things for your newly invested folk to be doing to keep them interested. :)

Best wishes.

I think that if a charactor joins a religion that chances are that they already have a plan of what they want to do with a charactor... I think it is up to the HF to go out of his way to nurture thiere RP and help then get it, I would also like to attribute my constant attempts (even if you guys think I suck you have to admit I try) at RPing with MOST (cant get to them all) of the people I invest or in the church period for having what seems to be a high percentige of church members/active members...

Not to say that having high turnaround rate means you suck at RP or anything but that perhaps we get too caught up in our own RP situations and forget the lowbies in the process and they loose intrest in thiere "leet" plan....happens to everyone.
